I am thinking of using a feed balancer for my two instead of using mix as they do not get the recommended amount anyway. Also one is a porker and the other maintains weight but can drop topline, so thought that i would get them a decent one to feed with the graze-on (same as readi-grass) they get. Have used pink powder in the past but after reading about top spec and bluechip it doesn't seem to have as much in it.
So can any of you recommend any goods ones you have used on yours, as it's difficult to know which one to go for as there are so many.
i use the top spec i like it because it contains everything they need and it comes as either a pelleted balancer or as powder (which wont increase weight) so when mine get a bit porky in the summer i change to the powder version......I think its great and both mine look very good on it hope this helps? I used to have my mare on Baileys Lo Cal but she put on way too much weight with it. This year I'm planning to use Dodson & Horrell Equibites in summer. Little bite size thingies that have all the vits and minerals in but fed like a treat.
Both my horses Czak and Venus have been on LO Cal for several years and they do fantastically well on it . I give them a handful of Mollichaff Veteran with it , not because they're veterans but they love the mint and nettle flavour. That's all they have plus carefully rationed hay as they are such good doers.
Three of mine are on Baileys Lo-Cal one is on their Stud Balancer and my New Forester who is 20 is on the Senior Mix during the winter but will go onto a Balancer for the summer
