We had a limpet numnah for Jim the witherless cob, but even better than that is the Equine Management Gel-eze pad. We have the full saddle one but it also comes as a wither pad.
I've used a limpet pad - they can tear if you remove them too quickly when warm though. Great if you know horse can tolerate the neoprene type material againt skin. I also have Impakt pads with bound edges, double thickness. Got them off Ebay - useful things to have especially if youhave hills and a horse that shifts saddle up neck / backwards

In the past I have used an Impakt pad (similar to the limpet pads) on my barrel shaped gelding, but I have recently discovered the Prolite Saddlestay pad; which is fantastic...the saddle doesn't move at all. A great piece of kit and i would thoroughly recommend.
I've got a Limpet pad for my old lady as a bit of cushioning - seemed to make a big difference for the better. I like the Limpet because it is flat and has no holes - some similar pads have air holes but from experience these cause the skin to go bumpy under the holes where there is uneven pressure. You can also cut Limpets to shape as I had to for my dressage saddle so it looks very neat. They are also quite thin so you aren't putting to much underneath the saddle and mucking up the correct fit.
