Wieght taped my mare today and she is 410kg! What is a good weight for a 14.3 mare? She doesn't look fat apart from the large belly.
No gutter down her back or bum. No fat pads. She does have quite a crest but always has had. I,ve taken her rug down to a rain sheet and will be upping the exercise. What do your arabs weigh in at?

Mine range from 480kg(15.2hh)to 420kg(14hh)All pure breds.

I think it depends on build and the work they are doing.

Mine vary between 410 and 430kg on the tape I've got, and I prefer to keep them on the lower side (they're not thin on that!). Mine range from 14.1 - 15.2hh. They are all fairly substantial pure breds, deep bodied and quite round.

But it depends on the tape and how you use it - a friend of mine weighs her 14.2, very fat (nearly obese) horse at 410kg despite the rolls of fat either side of the tape

I use mine as a guide for whether they are losing/gaining weight rather than their real weight, as I think it must weigh slightly light.

This pic is from last summer but she looks the same now. She is quite chunky and deep bodied but I worry about her being too fat going into spring.
