OH MY GOD THOSE POOR PONIES!!! And how brave were all those people trying to help them. Us horsy people always put our horses first, forget about our own safety hey!
I didnt think that the last two were goiong to get out, they looked so cold and tired.

WOW that was just sooo scary to watch, thank goodness they all got out safe and well. They were just so well behaved and didn't seem to panic, hmmm maybe I should buy myself an Icelandic pony?

Ditto everyone above - I was so worried about the grey - he really seemed to have given up. Thank god they weren't out-of-their-depth - if that were the case I imagine they'd have drowned.
Very brave people, there's no doubt they were risking their lives (as we would do), but as Roaseanne said - 'ride on a frozen lake'? madness.

This was Icelandic Horses in Iceland- they traditionally ride on Ice and compete on Ice- its their Sport- obviously amistake was made here with checking it was thick enough. Icelandics compete and give displays inEurope on Indoor Ice Arenas too.
Really really lucky they survived. Very Scary and reminded me a bit ofmy boy being stuck in a ditch- his rescue took much longer though but thankfully was on a summer evening and it wasn't cold. He too looked like he was giving up, puching his neck out in the same way the grey did and closed his eyes. Accidents happen- I am sure all those involved out there would think more the nexttime they are competing on ice. |
