Agree with you azeer, I have fortunately seen both Toman and Plumbum in the flesh what fabulous boys they are. As you say, the showring can be noisy and crowded, both boys have proved that not only can they excel in that atmosphere - but can also cut it with the 'big-boys' in dressage. Can't wait to see their dressage careers flourish |

I'm sooooo not suprised to hear this . I always have one or two Arabian dream horses in my head , ones that show the kind of supple free movement I would love to take into the dressage arena . Toman is one of these . He just seems to ripple along with such natural cadence. He is now showing that he also has that magical quality , trainability . With all this the skys the limit . I wish Kate and Toman the very best of luck . Kit |

Lovely to read this - well done to you all! I saw Toman at Malvern last year and he was outstanding. Keep us informed of all his achievements please - he has a big fan club! Judith, I meant to say a while back that it was a treat to see that lovely headshot of Diamond Star on another thread. I had a nice gelding by Aboud out of Raqqasa (the dam of you Raqqisa) and always thought he was like Aboud but when I saw that photo of Diamond Star I was stunned to see how much he reminded me of my gelding! I only wish I had seen him in real life. Best wishes , Kirst |

Thank you all so much for your kind replies – there are many Arab horses out there proving their worth to the rest of the horse world – Toman is definitely not unique in that respect. I just hope, combined, we all prove what wonderful/versatile horses the Arabian breed is, whether pure, part or anglo – we are all flying the flag.
I am very fortunate in having a daughter to continue with Toman in a ridden sphere – we knew he had to retire from the Ridden Show ring but didn’t want him to be just turned out to pasture. We are quite happy to start at the bottom and work our way up gradually in dressage – one thing we have found is that it does concentrate his mind on all the different movements etc he has to make – lol it tires him out too.
Marilyn, Kate is well aware of how lucky she is to be riding Toman – she says Ann is a huge act to follow. We know we will never, ever get another Toman, he really is and has been such a special boy but it is so nice to see the next generation enjoying him for hopefully a lot more years.
Kit thank you for your very kind words, from you this gives us great hope for the future.
Photos – I’d hardly time to go to the loo but will see if Chris managed any video and I can find out how to copy on here.
Kirst – how lovely to hear you have an Aboud son out of Raqqasa and that he looks like Diamond – funnily enough our Diamond daughter out of Raqisa is VERY dark liver chestnut with NO WHITE and yet Treasure’s full sister is chestnut with quite a bit of white.
Many thanks once again for your kind words – she plans to take BOTH to the next competition – goodness this being a groom is very hard work.

Huge congrats Kate and Toman As I have stated on a previous thread, Tom is my idea of pure Arabian excellence.
Not only has he flown the flag, gaining the ultimate accolade for ridden show arabians, he is now setting out to make the dressage riders, sit up and take notice of an ARAB, not only a beautiful SHOW HORSE, WHO CAN ALSO compete and beat dressage horses at there own game.
Keep it up Kate and Toman...........whats next?? Eventing??

Many thanks Babs - wow eventing that's a bit scary at the mo - let's take one hurdle at a time lol
We do tend to wrap him in cotton wool - maybe in a few years we "may" experiment but would like to keep him in one piece just now. |

It would be nice to see Toman and Kate compete at the Sport Arabian/Trakehner Event this year. We need more Arabians, and it is all about Performance. To To Modderman will be coming over from Holland. This could be the way forward to promote the Arabian blood in Sport Horses, as they do in Europe. |

Yes Jane I will kill you - luckily you are well out of harms way
It would be wonderful to bring ALL the babies to the Sire Produce BUT with only FOUR treasures so far, we may have to wait another year to generate a few more to chose from
Denmoor, we would hope to come along to your event with Toman - hope you send us schedule etc. Mrs Modderman was SO complimentary about him at the Europeans
Alistair - you know if you are getting withdrawl symptoms from seeing Toman and the beautiful Basra you can always look at the website. But no ridden pics of Bas at the mo - one day I promise. |

The Russian Arab has always been highly prized in Trakehner bloodlines, so the Event is definitely the place to show him off to Sport Horse Breeders and Competitors. We had a good write up in the Dutch Arab Magazine, the Event is receiving European recognition and will we hope be useful for the promotion of Arabian Performance Bloodlines and give them a high profile.

Well done Denmore on your forsight with the introduction of Sport Horse Show. The Challenge now is for the British Breeders/Competitors to give the Continental contingency a run for their money, and prove our British Arab/Anglo/Part Bred Arabs are as good as the best!!
When I tried to introduce a similar show, eight years ago.....had a few schedule requests from Germany, but a negative response from British Contenders.
It would seem, we have now awakened and chance to prove our worth in a highly competive Arena. Go for it!!! Will shake up a few Sunray Owners, and try to get them along.

Babs nothing would give greater pleasure that to present Sunray Stud with a breeders prize, after all this is what its all about. It all starts with the breeding, and goes on from there, correct training and talented Riders, this is the ultimate goal. Olympics here comes British Breeding, you know we can do it!!! Thank you for your posts |
