Hi Angela, Having been persuaded (against my better judgement), that tree-free saddles were the way forward and having tried a couple without too much success, I bought a Freeform.....which is now a permanent ornament in my bedroom because Kharidian cannot tolerate it. He is a 200% honest and genuine horse - but he bucks, humps up, tail-swishes and bites himself (biting his flanks behind the girth and also in between his front legs) with the Freeform. I have tried different length/makes of girth, ensuring the girth straps are tucked in and not tickling him etc. He is so pitiful that I've had to dismount and lead him home as he has been so distressed. When I spoke to Helen at Goldfinch (the vendor) she said some horses just don't like treefree saddles.
I'll keep the Freeform in case it comes in handy at a later date, but I've now gone back to my trusty Derby House Samber which suits Kharidian and myself and in which we "have a go" at anything.
