It is a beautiful sunny day here and methinks I had better think about getting flysheets here for the horses ready for when the flys start biting and they really do bite, so what fly sheets do you recommend and not recommend for arabs?

last summer i used a saxon combo fly, £20 odd quid, this year i have bought in the sale a shires maxi flow combo for £22.50, looks like i will be able to use it for wicking too and its blue The saxon was ok did the job but did start to rub his shoulder despite satin lining, both mine and another horses tore in the same place on the front it is now a binable.
Other fly sheet i liked on one of the horses was Shires performance RRP £45-50 it has a breathable waterproof section on the back, her horse was in it all summer very comfy looking. |

Amigo, I think.
Toffee has one in gold & green. They are very soft on the skin, not rough at all |

The ones that fitted my Andalusian best are the Shires Maxi-Flow (separate head and neck) and the Mark Todd which was great. I'd recommend both. No rubbing... Shires cheaper than Mark Todd I think, but you get what you pay for I guess. |

Riff Raff have gone bust but there's another company that makes the exact same rug, the rug's called HY Guardian and it's RRP is about £45 had a look around and it's not stocked on every site but I found it on ebay, its quite a good rug.
One of the cobs I look after had it last summer, he's got sweet itch and it was OK untill he found something sharp to scratch on that took him awhile mind. It has a lined neck too and it didn't rub at all, he's quite chunky and it was tightish at first but stretched really nicely to fit him then. Tried it on Lilly (arab) and it was fine.
ETA - As he abit of a rug wrecker he's getting a Rambo Sweet Itch Hoody as it's like 900 or 1000D so anything that gives it more of a chance. I've only ever heard good things about Rambo and Amigo though. |

I use Rambo fly sheet, its got the neck attatched and its lined along the mane and around the shoulders to prevent rubs, feels stiff and heavy in weight, but ive used it on the hottest of days and its fantastic, pricey tho but worth it. |

I will look on Ebay I quite like the sound of the soft one though I am worried that a rough one will rub her mane away, she does not have a thick lustrous mane at the best of times, so want to get something that keeps the flys off but that doen't rub, the flys bit here even us humans |

I agree with Nicky E.
Has to be Fal. I was lucky and managed to buy one off ebay as they are very pricey. It can be false economy going for a cheapy one. The Fal-pro silver interactive is so well made and she is very happy in it.
We have huge midgies up here so it has to do the job. A good skoosh of repellent as well as the rug certainly did the trick.
My only negative about it was that it was a wee bit tight on the chest/neck - not uncomfortable, just tricky to do up, especially with the long mane trying to get caught up in the zip!!
