All being well...myself, hubby and horse, with Bateson trailer and jeep will set forth on the epic trek to Lindum...departing on 21st or 22nd July and heading home (To relief of horse and house sitters at home!!)on Mon 26th! Can anyone tell us of somewhere with B+B for us and Neddy(Just a stable for latter..no turn out required.) Around Carlisle/Scottish Borders? That wont take us toooooo far off main route South? We would need an overnighter on the way down and on the way back. We are all well behaved!!!Non smokers! No Vices!!Happy friendly horsey folk...well other half likes farms, fergie tractors, dogs, and rugby! Any suggestions welcome....as we will be in scary unknown territory oooooohhhh!!

Mark Thorne (Equine Dentist) has a horsey holiday place up that way I THINK!! He was based in the Lakes but my friend tells me he has moved up to the Borders. His tel no. is 01450 373845. I apologise now if I am way off the mark, but it's worth a go. |

Hi Karen,
About where were you going to cross to the East side? I'm near the Tyne Tunnel, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, A1/A1M.
I'll have a full house but wagon and stable available, we cater for stallions!!!!

Thanks Baymops...very handy contact to know. Its good of you to reply.
Also huge thanks to Shirley...hopefully see you at the Royal Highland Show....re the offer of a stable..so near yet just so far! Candy has steered us in the direction of Penrith, and hubby thinks it might be easier to go there. He IS the driver after all and therefor GOD, plus being an ex Rugby Player needs a rugby player sort of bed!W.e did sleep in the camper van bed once and he had cramp for a week! Its a shame for me as I love camping in lorries, and would have loved to have met the famous Dollar |

Hi Karen,
Sorry to have come into this so late in the day, but I could give you a spare overnight stable and a bed or two (I only have stemmy hay, though - my lot are all good doers and I'm a bit paranoid about their weight). I'm between Selkirk and Hawick, just off the A7 - 5 minutes from Ian Stark's if you know where he is. Mark Thorne is at Cavers, about 3 miles NE of Hawick.
Regards,
Wendy |

Hi Wendy, that would have been great but hubby says we are going Glasgow, Carlise, Penrith....so this time we will have to give it a miss. However all being well we hope later on in 21st/22nd August to compete at The Scottish Endurance Champs, stabling at Kelso racecourse and setting of from Springfield Park, perhaps see you there? Would love to talk horses with you, thankyou for offering to help us out |
