I have a Crabbet Arab Mare called Wrenwood Zerrafin, Sire Silver Finesse, out of Kingsettle Ziforta. Does anyone have an idea on her percentage please?
this pedigree looks to be mostly english apart from kaplja who was russian possibly most of the english is crabbet [looks it to me] but l am not an expert
I gathered that from her pedigree. I was trying to work out her percentage as a lot of her relatives are 100% crabbet but i have not go around to looking much past the fifth generation in detail. She is a gorgeous mare but not quite as calm as many crabbets are!
If you go on to the following web site :- www.crabbet.org.uk you can apply for a heritage certificate which calculates exactly what percentage your mare will be. I did it for my lady. The certificates are lovely and it makes fascinating reading.
Just be prepared for a little wait. It takes ages for them to work through the pedigrees but it is well worth it.
Hi, I'd say she's approximately 95% Crabbet, with Russian blood via Kaplja (although she has allot of Crabbet blood within her pedigree) & some Old English / GSB blood as well. I'm no expert though, so getting a certificate from the Crabbet Organisation would be a good idea.
Thanks for that. I thought she was a high percentage. I will get a certificate I think as well, I just wanted to know before three months!
Kaplja was bred from the Tersk Stud and I read they got most of their foundation stock from Crabbet Park so does that not make her technically crabbet or have I got that completely wrong?!
I went back a bit further and did some research on the Tersk stud because of Kaplja and saw about the Crabbet purchases.
Also, Skowronek features in her line, does he come under as a Crabbet as i was reading before that some dealers say you cannot prove where he comes from and will not accept him?
I knew before that she was russian too but did not know from Tersk so that is a bonus as well. I have often looked at their horses in awe!
Also, what should I be looking for in her as a Crabbet? I have only had her since May and although Arabs have always been a love of mine and I knew of crabbets I never really knew that much about them.
