This summer Angel has been pretending to be a riding school pony
My 10 year old son sold his pony, Bianca Bibblesworth, to a school friend last year for £1 and Ashley has been doing very well considering that God, in his infinite wisdom, decided it would be a good idea to cram a 16.2hh eventer into a 12.0hh Section A body . She started taking BB to our local Riding Club lessons and, so long as we had one person to hang on to the pony and one to hang on to Ashley, things were great That is until the instructor announced that next week the group would be learning to do flying changes . Neither Ashley or me fancied that at all - BB was well up for it
Enter Angel - slightly neurotic and bouncy on the way home but absolutely bombproof in the school. She finds schooling really boring unless there are jumps involved so I knew there was no danger of her lighting up. I loose school her at home quite a lot so she responds to voice commands and will even change direction on command, although this is usually done at speed with buck and a fart!
So, a very nervous Ashley was let off lead rein on a 15.1hh, 50 mile fit, hormonal arab - Result, one very smiley child and a fantastic nanny & babysitter
This is Ashley warming up, cantering a 20m circle with me in middle shouting "come round, come round" to Angel
Here Angel had her sights on the pole that is just out of shot that she had to canter over and then change direction to get the flying change. Just as Ashley went over the pole I shouted "and..Cha..ange" and Angel changed direction, very sedately
Here they are cantering round the outside of the school - take a look at Ashley's mum doing the "Proud Parent" routine in the corner
Hope you enjoyed them - I was so proud of both of them, Ashley was almost in tears about doing it as she has seen Angel perform in previous lessons, Angel was so sweet and really tried hard to keep Ashley balanced so she wouldn't fall off.
