My very light grey almost white mare Abla does this everyday but in her deep mud rolly patch which she adores and now she has taught her friend Sonny how to do the very same and yes they both stand there afterwards and look so innocent. I could scream some days and other I want to laugh the thing is that they are both quite pregnant and its getting harder by the week. Sue |

One of mine's the same pleasures, very pale grey, but she can't roll right over!! She doesn't let me get away with only one black side though, she gets up and does a thorough job on the otherside too. Paying special attention to the mane!!
Heatherr your's has got it down to a fine art - what a very stylish roller!! |

I forgot to ask Heatherr - is that the 28 year old?
I read somewhere that horses that can roll right over (mine can't!!) are far more athletic than those that can't. Further testament to what a wonderful pony you have there |

That's really interesting Louise. Yes that's the 28 yr old. My 6 year old can't roll over and has to get up, turn around and then do the other side! Interestingly, when I had the good fortune to spend an hour or two with her sire, that is exactly the way he rolled too - a trait passed through the genes or coincidence? |

My fleabitten grey mare does that, works the mud well into her face, cheek, chin, etc, makes sure she rubs her tail in the mud at the same time and if she can't roll all the way over, gets up and does the other side. Its one of her great pleasures in life (although it means she is seldom the lovely white fleabitten she should be...! Oh well, she's happy! |

Bless!
My chestnut loves to wallow as well, and covers every inch going. Sometimes it's so effective that I can no longe see her star! |
