THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED WITH THIS SEARCH
Thanks to all of you, both on the main site and on the Tracing thread, I finally managed to get hold of Dr Martine - and he has my mare's dam Kildalton Mona. I told him all about my lovely girl Bas Baseeta, and he in turn told me wonderful things about her breeding and the bloodlines and all his lovely horses. He is going to send me more pictures of her, and she really sounds as though she may look a lot like my girl and have her temperament too. They will clearly never sell her (just as well, as I suspect I could never afford her) - But it's so wonderful to close this chapter of my search. After Bas Baseeta (Bes) died, I became quite obsessed with tracking down her full pedigree and searching for photos and history. Not being an expert it was very difficult on the dams side, but easy on the sires side (sire, Crusader). It has taken me nearly 2 years, every now and then I would start to look again for Kildalton Mona, but never finding her.
Dr Martines stud manager is also going to call me and arrange for pics of any of the others with similar breeding, and I think I may also find a stallion to cover one of my other mares. I am fascinated by this breeding, and just cant wait to talk to them about the other horses in their herd.
Am now wildly excited that I found Bes's mum. Sadly Kildalton Mona is in France so arranging a visit (if they are agreeable to that) may be a little more difficult but not beyond the realms of imagination.
She is still breeding, and will be covered by one of their stallions again next year. Even if I cant buy one of her foals, at least I see what they look like.
Once again, Thank you, Thank you, All Not sure whether to laugh or cry ... xx

I'm really thrilled you have found her! I would also be interested in hearing about more of her descendants, please post any more news you get
I don't suppose Dr Martine knows anything about the high-percentage Babson mare ARAMI (by Bay Aramis) that I am looking for in France?

They are now concentrating on Babson lines so I will ask about Arami when the stud manager calls and let you know.
Will keep you all up to date.
Checking my emails continually for the much awaited info and pics!

Hi Nicki, You should have asked me :) I visited her in 2004 at Mr Martines and see her again in France two years ago. She is a very nice producing mare, very Pritzlaff, very dry tissue...
I may have a pic of her full sister Kidalton Danah(they are very look alike):
and one of her daughter

Isnt it great when a plan comes together. Well done you for persevering. I hope that you do get to see your girls mum in the flesh and that a new baby will be out there somewhere for you. Best wishes |
