Way back in July, my mare developed several small pea sized lumps to one side of her vulva, which I suspected to be melanomas. They literally appeared overnight.
Since then, I've checked them every day (paranoid) but there was no change.
The last few days, however, they seem to be shrinking, and altering shape.
Some of them are no longer pea shaped, but thinner and more elongated (like a large grass seed). All of them are definitely smaller, and tonight two of them appear to be lighter in colour (as though the skin was slightly rubbed on the top, but given their position, I don't think that likely).
I have a friend who's gelding had one for a couple of years (it eventually disappeared), but, as far as she remembers, it used to get smaller in winter.
Has anyone else experienced this? I was under the impression that melanomas either stayed the same for years or got larger, (which would be more of a worry).
Any info most gratefully accepted
