I got large metal bins with lids in Ikea and find that they do the trick and they are painted cream but I think you can get plain metal ones too.cant remember how much they were but wouldnt be expensive.
Thanks TC. I think I know the kind you mean. However, I am actually looking for the traditional metal bins that have two or three compartments rather than the round metal dustbins.
Will try eBay. Have looked before but they didn't have exactly what I wanted at that time.
