I've got such a sore arm from mucking out and a bit at a loss at what to do. I only do one horse a day so it seems so wimpy when lots of you do loads on a daily basis. Any ideas as to what I can do? There isn't really anyone who can help me on a regular basis and my mare loathes bad weather so won't go out unless it's perfectly dry which means it's almost like double mucking out each day. Does human corteflex or anything like that help?
Would be glad to hear of any suggestions, will it just get worse and worse if I don't rest it or does it get to a certain stage and then it just hurts for good!

Are you working as a secretary or typing all day or are you sure its not your occupation causing the pain my mum had it and had to take a year off work and it still flares up every now and again.
Sometimes my wrist goes on me in work thats a warning sign that I need to slow down my mother used the tens electric machine to try and relieve the pain caused by RSI but I don't know what its like or whether it really works. I knew a girl who had a pony on loan who got it also from typing too much unfortunately she had to give the pony back as she thought the only way to get rid of the condition was to have complete rest.

My horse is my very best friend. Nothing in the world can separate us. When he dies I know he'll be waiting for me at the gate... just like always.

I'm actually at home as I've got young children, although I do type a bit, I text a lot more . I can do some things but as soon as I pick up the skip the pain shoots down my arm. Most painful and I'm worried that it will just keep getting worse.

I'd try and make the stable tasks easier, my 'dream' would be rubber matting, automatic water drinkers and the hay racks that you fill from outside and rotate in. all you need then is a big brush to move the muck out onto shovel and its gone. When Aja were up north they had some barns like this, meant that over 20 horses could be done by one person if need arose.
I'd suggest a visit to the doctors, some physio might help, along with the right type of medication, and maybe some support. I had wrist supports, what they did was make me think everytime I tried to move, so I did not do anything stupid to aggravate the condition, giving it time to heal. |

I sometimes get real bad pains in my shoulder, so i take to using rubber gloves to do a more manual muck out for a little while - takes the strain off for a bit while the tendons heal - minimise the use of a fork as it is an unatural action |

Poor you I agree wirh Pat WW---you need a proper diagnosis of what is wrong---a good physio could probably give you exercises to do to strengthen the right muscles if it is a strain of some sort. |

Many tears ago I had frozen shoulder in both shoulders, I couldn't even lift a kettle. The only thing that worked for me was a course of cortisone injections. See your gp, but in the meantime take ibuprofen and paracetomol, that should ease the pain. |

Hi Jaj, I feel for you, where is the pain in your elbow or shoulder, I have it in both on both arms in my elbows and shoulders from horses and my wrist from typing at work, went to the doctor and got told to take it easy and not to do anything that would aggrevate it and that was the only advice I got, so hopefully somebody on here may have some very good advise that we can both take advantage of
