Hi, changed Baz to alpha a oil a few weeks ago, he is now not eating up-(i did the change over about 5 days)- Phoned Dengie who said this is most likely due to alpha a oil not being mollassed and the alpha a we were on was. (he ate up fine on this) they suggested giving him sugar beet to sweeten, what do you think should i sugar beet or change back to alpha a asap?
Changed to the alpha a oil to help maintain condition and was giving oil in his feed anyway,

I use SPILLERS HAPPY HOOF not because Rysc has any foot probs or is prone to laminitis but because it can be used as a complete feed or a replacement for compound feed which is great as its low calorie fibre blend so I have no worries about suguar! which I feel he does not need! Happy Hoof is made from oat straw, alfalfa, grass, mint, garlic and soya oil with added vitamins and minerals. Rysch has codlavine added even though you do not need to add anything to this feed. Happy hoof costs about £9.70 a bag I think and lasts for ages I give him one scoop with a few carrots and water 2x daily.
I love Dengie feeds also and know dengie give great advice and support with change etc! Im not a fan of sugar beet but it does have its place! I would use the Unmolassed Beet but thats just me. You can feed a horse a high energy feed without the use of sugar.
Maybe if you are having to add sugar beet it would be better to stick with what you had before if he was happy on it and it provided him with enough Alpha oil! why did you change to the oil from Alpha A?
tried a handful of sugar beet last night from my friends feed, and although he tucked in better still left a good handfull, so will go back to alpha a tomorrow, i changed him as wanted to maintain condition he drops weight from his bum when he is having a growth spurt,
