Charlie ( Orphan Arab foalie) & his sister Ruby (Quarab) at five months old (gosh how time flies!) have both just about outgrown their 4'3" Weatherbeta NZ foal rugs & will be going into their 4'6" rugs in the next day or so. They are both large, VERY lusty foals - must be well grown if their out growing rugs is anything to go by!
At five months of age & their rug outgrowning - would those who are experienced in such foalie matters say that they are growing well for their age?? Both foals are big & well filled out - well Ruby being a quarab & large like her mum - has more body than Charlie - but now he's taller than her!!!
Judith, my filly is 5 1/2 months old and she is in a 4.6 and 4.9 rugs, I use both on her as find the neck on the masta more fitting so even though its bigger it comes up very similar to the 4.6 olympian rug.
Its sounds like they are growing how they should be. My filly is out of my 14.3 pure bred mare and Tobago who i think is now 15.2. My filly is around 12.3 in height but at the moment slight in frame. She does seem to have long legs though. hope comparing against her size helps
my purebred filly was in a 5ft at 5 months, she is 2 and a half now and is 15.1, so i think yours are fine.love to see some more pics of your two babies.
Hi have just put my tobago foal in his 4ft 6 masta pony rug and he wont be in it long as already fills it well his next rug will be 5ft(dont have 4ft9 one). he is 5 months old and his mum is 16.1hh my yearling was in a 4ft 6 at the same age and she is now in 5ft 9 rug!!! Kirstty
Changed their rugs this afternoon - both in 4'6" - Charlie looks very gay in his pink/purple check Ruby will be needing the next size up before too long as she is filling the new rug well[:D The rug Charlie has on - is one we picked up at the Fayre Oakes sales recently - no idea of the make - but its a lovely rug - Ruby has on a Masta foal rug which is slightly more generous than Charlies rug - well it fitted her QH botty better
