AK el Sennari was a beautiful SE stallion bred in the States, imported into England, I think by Ron Hutchins but not sure, he was owned by raymond Fox for a time, and then sold to the middle east.
If you go onto straightegyptians.com and do a search you should find lots of info and photos. I had a mare by him on loan for several years.

I am sure there is a photo of him on Dr Nasr Marei's Albadeia Stud in Cairo, Egypt, in fact I think he ended his days there, could be wrong, but the website is www.albadeia.com. |

Yes, I think Ron Hutchings might be Meranti arabians. He did go to Al Badeia stud and Nasr Marei took some lovely photos of him while he was there. He died a year or two ago. He was a fleabitten grey in later life.

I am pretty sure he never competed under saddle; don't know if he was ridden. I think he did quite a bit of winning in the showring. I didn't ever see him when he was in England. There was a gelding by him near here, I met the owner in my local tack shop but never saw him again so didn't get to see the gelding. He was very pleased with him. It was many years ago and they were just starting to break him in.
Did you look on straightegyptians.com as I think there was a thread about him a few years ago and it was there that I read he had died. You could always become a member and strat a new thread as there is sure to be a lot of people who know of him. Nasr Marei post there so he would give you lots of info and photos, he is a lovely man.

My mare is by AK El Sennari and is the sweetest, kindest horse you could wish to meet. I bought her from the Maxwells in 1995 when she was 5 years old, her name is Kalinina and she is chestnut. She is forward going to ride but very safe and very genuine, the type of horse who everyone loves (she gives Arabs a good name!)
She has been a successful show winner herself (as were both her parents) and has produced 3 foals, she is registered as a Premium mare with the AHS.
AK El Sennari has Ansata lines and is pictured in Judith Forbis' book about Ansata Ibn Halima.

Autumn was when younger the pic is from 2007, when she came to us as a 4yo she was a dark dapple gray with black in her mane. Amazing how they change colour ... she was named Autumn because as a foal she was bay/brown like autumn leaves. |

I had been on a search for AK El Sennari and found your site. I corresponded with Nasr Masrei and found out that Sennari did, indeed die a few years ago after complications with colic of which he had a history. I was searching because I used to own one of Sennari's first foals, a stud named by me "Qalbiyan". I lost him when he was only 3 and now cannot find him. He would be 23. I had the wonderful opportunity to spend a day at the farm that was lesing Sennari back in 1984-85 and I can tell you he was magnificent. For the time he was at the Polk's he was not ridden, not shown, just bred. He already had a successful show ring career at Bentwood, the farm that bred him. He was a beautiful light dapple grey, later to turn flea-bitten. He was such a perfect gentleman. My colt was born a bay, turned dark, dark dapple grey before I gave him away. He was a kick, full of snort and blow and I have a few quite hilarious stories about him. He was put with a national's trainer for several months and I was told that he was good local material, even regional but not national. How he could qualify at regionals and not nationals was not understood by me. Qal could be very jealous of time spent with my other horses and he let me know it. I did break him to ride, but only briefly. I will never forget the first time I got on his back. He just stood very still, sensing my nervousness, then took very light, careful steps. He was a dream of mine that I never got to complete. I am sure it is like searching for the proverbial needle in a haystack but has anyone ever heard of a colt named Qalbiyan AHA# 0325504? He may very well have been gelded and last I knew he was in southern New Mexico, USA. I called the Registry and he is still on file as owned by the woman I gave him to but she does not have him. She gave him to her friend and then lost track of him. Anyone out there that could help me? |
