Here's a video of the Beautiful and Talented Taragun and Evie in action at their very first Three Day Event!!
Apologies for the lack of sound - my technical abilities failed me!
Evie sends her apologies for her being slightly off balance in some of the cross country but by this time, she'd been in the saddle for 2 hours doing roads, steeplechase, roads and then xc and her hip was hurting.
The course was a PreNovice course. Steeplechase height 3'7" but angled, XC course height 3'3" but there were some horrendous fences - the step up and bank were 3'6" and the step down to 2 hedges was enormous - the fence after the bank had a 3'6" wide (3'0" deep) ditch in front of it. The show jumping was 3'6" height and were up to 4'0" spreads.
We had a wonderful time and even though they weren't placed, they became famous as "the Little Arab" and everyone cheered them on!!
Hope you enjoy.....

Evie says thanks to everyone for their lovely comments on the thread about her being poorly xxx

Nancy - just watch this space........
and no - Taz wasn't tired at all. She was so super fit, she blew up in the dressage!!! (Last time I laugh at the "top riders" at Bramham - hell it's difficult balancing fitness with submission - and submission is meant in the "dressage" kind of way). By the time this video was taken, she'd already done dressage the day before, then on the day 4.5 km road and tracks (not on video), the steeplechase was another 1 km then she did another 4.5 km (not on video) before starting the 5 km cross country and the show jumping on the Sunday. We were exhausted supporting let alone doing the course.
It was such a wonderful experience and the whole emphasis turned from our usual doing our best and getting the best score possible, to total focus on Taz's heart rate, recovery and fitness.
When she got home on the Sunday - she didn't shut up for hours - bragging to all her friends about where she had been (Milton Keynes) and what she had done!!! Mr Feathers and the Neat and Nimble Nancy were NOT impressed - they HATE being left behind. Bumble the Hefalump just sighed and carried on eating and sleeping!!
Meanwhile, Evie had a long soak in the bath and crashed out!!!
Taz really is a complete dream. Isn't it amazing that Evie's top horses are liver chestnut - all augers well for Buzz...... |

As I said after Malvern, NOTHING has ever made me want to get back in the saddle more than watching the ridiculously talented Evie on the most honest and gustiest little mare I've ever seen
What a pair!
I can't wait to see Evie on my little man's brother in the future
Best wishes

Wonderful video, Evie and Taz are very much a team, and both supremely talented. I agree with crinks, looks like an Olympic medal is there just waiting for Evie to grab it.
Many thanks for sharing the video and also Evie's highs and lows with us all (would make a fantastic film, but I am sure the story isn't over yet!!!!)
Heres's to the future Team Templar, and I will be avidly waiting to hear about every step
Carla, xx. |
