We lost Downies Leading Lady our anglo mare this morning she was 22 and looked really well but had been struggling for a while as her tendon had slipped off her hock, well at the weekend she could not get up without help and when the vet came today she said there was nothing more to do, that a combination of the hock and arthritis in her other legs was making her miserable so we took her down the field to the spot she was born and put her quietly to sleep.She had 13 foals with us and has left us 2 lovely fillies to carry on her line i hope they know they have big shoes to fill.RIP lady you were downies stud and it wont be the same without you.

Oh what a sad day for you - you must be heartbroken. Lady was a fabulous mare , I remember seeing her winning at shows when she was younger. At least you still have part of her in that she will live on through her offspring and she will forever be in your heart. So sorry to hear you have lost her.

| Oh dear, what an awful day for you. You must be heartbroken to lose your wonderful mare and friend. At least you gave her a dignified and kind passing. I am sure you will treasure her legacies. So sorry. |

So sorry Lynn and it must have been heartbreaking for you to take her to where she was born to say goodbye, but, how lucky to are to have had her that long and to part with her in such a special way and place.

So sorry to hear this but what a lovely life she has led - and to be laid to rest where she was born surrounded by her friends has to be the best way to leave this earth. Best way to celebrate her life.
