Following on from Tahir`s Thread,....it now seems equine vendor`s are quite prepared to `steal` another horse`s identity, in a fraudulent attempt to dupe potential buyers.
A close Friend telephoned to alert me to look at an advert for a ten year old Anglo Arab Mare, who was advertised for sale, in a top mag on the internet. Imagine my surprise to see the photo of this mare, being that of Spellsbury Supernova competing in the Evening Finals (Top Hat & Tails) at the 2007 Cherif Championships. who is sired by our stallion Sunray Superstar and is pictured on my Website. The Mare is advertised as Hazelcroft Hallmark, the vendor entering the pic of Spellsbury Supernova with my Friend`s head cut off
The advertiser was telephoned and challenged as to the reason WHY she had used a photo which was NOT of her Mare. She insisted it WAS her mare, and the pic was at a BSPS show and her Mother had taken the photo and it was on her camera. She appeared to be quite happy to send a copy to my Friend as proof but did explain, her Mother had cut off her head, when taking the photo of her riding Hazelcroft Hallmark
As any Anglo/Part Bred Arab Cherif contender would know immediately, the pic was taken at the Cherif Championships Show.
I phoned the Magazine in question and they confirmed the advertiser insisted the pic WAS that of the mare she was advertising. I asked them to go onto our Website, click onto the `horses` page, scroll down and she would come to the pic of Spellsbury Supernova. She agreed wholly that this picture was indeed as I said it was, and confirmed she would immediately remove same off the advert for Hazelcroft Hallmark.
These folk should be named and shamed....someone could have travelled a great distance to see this horse, assuming that from the photo, it must have not only qualified for the Cherif Championships, but had won through to the top ten evening Championships performance.
On checking the last six year`s Cherif show catalogues, could not see this mare listed in any of the classes, so not only is this advertiser misrepresenting but also could be putting herself at risk of `fraud` She must remember that well known horses, are WELL KNOWN and she has been found out for her cheating ways !!

Sorry but in this instance, it has to be name, shame and prosecute. A bloody disgrace to the equine fraternity that thieves (cos that's what they are at the end of the day) are getting away with blatant fraud. Oh it makes my blood boil. Going before I self combust. |

Yes this horse is advertised on at least 4 other sale sites with that same picture with the riders head cut off....absolutely disgraceful. Hopefully you will get all those other advertising sites to stop her adverts with these fraudulent activities. Dont know how people sleep at night

My stallion Caballero was advertised as a mare by someone who had stolen his photo off my website. Sadly this isnt a new trend. |

It beggars belief the lengths of dishonesty some people will stoop too they are a disgrace to the genuine horse world!!! i know this horse and his owner she is a credit to her horses, spellsbury supanova is stunning, a real eyecatcher!!! the horse being advertised is a mare, yet harry (spellsbury supanova) is a gelding...and if you zoomed in on the add you could even see it was a gelding in the picture!!!how convienient they chose not to show the riders head in the add!!! i truly believe they should be blacklisted from advertising so as not to do this dirty trick again!!!
below are the original picture and the one used in the advertisement!

Having looked back through all the photos taken at the Cherif, the photo used of Supernova was actually taken at the Cherif in 2006 when competing in the Senior Concours class.
The person using the photo is also infringing the photographer's copyright.
Babs, or anyone else who knows where else the photograph has been used, would you PM me, I can let the photographer know. |

I know it will take time maybe that you have not got I would try my hardest to put same tale with the same pics as you have on here anywhere everywhere else.. Even try a magazine!! to humiliate them.. but then would it?!! Surely there is a way to take this further i would be spitting feathers.. How dare they.. |

Hi Lynda.....sorry about slight error of fact..having checked, the pic as you say, was from the Cherif 2006 Championships I stand corrected !! It was the 2007 Cherif Championships when Spellsbury Supernova won through to the `final ten` evening performance and delighted Louise with his eighth placing. His full blood sister Spellsbury Sentiment, followed in his footsteps at this year`s Cherif Championships, gaining a respectable ninth at her debut appearance there.

Shocked !
After I'd calmed down suffiently - I *think* I may be flattered that someone thought my horse's photo was so good it would help to sell theirs.
What a cheek to say the photo was on their camera - I'd be livid with them! |

Absolutely gob smacked! What lengths some people will go to! This has really got me thinking now, as I was looking at one advert (not Arabian Lines) & a ridden Arab advertised for sale has a hedge in the background & the advertiser has put a 'hedge background' over the riders face! - why is this? - possibly someone else up to no good? - who knows? With the effects of the credit crunch starting to bite, this is a warning to potental buyers to be `on guard` Many horses will be offered for sale during this Winter, and unscrupulous owners may go to any lengths to offload their unwanted equines. Do not believe all you see
Recent `threads` have certainly proved there are many toerags out there!!
