I asked at my feed merchants on friday and the cost of 20k oats or barley was £6.30 but the local farmer has quoted me £6.50-£7 for a hundredweight. Got to be cheaper.
Ring round all the feed merchants and compare prices. I did this and found I could save £12.50 (on 10 bags of feed) just by switching to another shop (and using own brand nuts). Even better the shop was close to work so saved petrol as well and could get my feed in my lunch hour! Also check your receipts to see any discounts have been removed and wrongly priced items - I purchased some codlivine joint supplement, label said £12+, till rung up £18+.
Im worst afraid there will be alot of horses, ponys suffering this winter - I heard a very disturbing story only yesterday at a Show, I dont no who the people were concerned, but my friend who helps me at shows got talking to a chap with a lovely little foal he was showing and apparently he had bought this foal only a month or so back as the breeder had left the foal in the field when the mare had ran out of milk & basiclly said, it will have to manage!!!!!
