My 2 year old has taken to seeking out clay-type mud in puddles and eating it. I assume this shows a mineral deficiency, but a number of people have just responded saying that is what youngsters do.
She has a small chaff, molasses mix with vits and biotin in the morning, lives out 24/7 and we go out on eating walks so she gets a wide variety of weeds - and blackberries at the moment.
I was almost set to replace her vits and biotin with Forumla for Feet from Equilife on recommendation, but now the vet has suggested a mineral lick - he also said she looks in great nick so not to be too worried, the main concern could be colic from dirt/sand. The challenge is she lives with 4 other horses, who will obviously also then access it and may not need it.
Any thoughts welcome.
thanks B
