Merlot, Whit Khan rings bells for me, I think we've done some research already on this horse, which included looking through the old AHS News from yesteryears... Just a bit busy at the mo, but soon as I get a min I'll see what I can turn up for Souter Hs...as I said rings bells for me.. and I'm gobsmacked your horse went through Melton Mowbray, I also might have been there that year/day. So was he sold without his registration papers, or wherwe they just not passed on.....can you tell us...
Sue PS if your interested it might be worth looking at the Racing Advertiser on line ARO Warwick, you might see photographs of Kayeed from that race day. |

Hi Sue
As far as I am aware, he was never registered with the AHS as there is no mention on the sale paper of a registration number and it was in 1997 when he was 2 years old. As well as the "details of sale" from Melton Auctions, I do have his flu vac certificate and his passport although the passport was done by his previous owner when it became law.
If you can turn up anything about Shahrazad's Dream that would be fantastic as I have no idea about her whatsoever.
Thanks again for your input, it's appreciated. |

Hi Maureen, I'm just getting over a nasty lurgy, so am amusing myself looking up horses in the stud books. I can only find 2 entries for Sharazads Dream, her birth in 1993 out of Indian Rani by Indian Royal, she was bred by Mr J. R Kay and her dam Indian Rani died the year after, so she was last of her dam line.I then found her again in 2000 when she had an unregistered bay filly by San Meagill, sadly no breeder name.
As for White Khan I had a little bit more success 19991 Blue Khan grey gelding out of Miss Bluebird Dharko Ibn Khan bay colt out of Peridar Rashid Ibn Khan bay colt out of Dawn Simoom
1995 Lu Khanna of Brooklynne grey filly out of Jadem of Brooklynne SH Fizz grey filly out of Zarhouan SH Naseem grey filly out of Nasrah
1996 SH Nasood grey colt out of Nasrah
1997 SH Comic bay colt out of Klinka
SH White Echo grey colt out of Whispering Windchime
2003 Jabari chestnut gelding out of Joli
I'm assuming SH stands for Souter House and the Greenwood stud,
Hope that helps a bit

Hi Mandy
Sorry to hear you've had the lurgy but thanks so much for the time and effort you have taken to find this information. So White Khan has a few babies out there then ! I wonder why Shahrazad's Dream's babies weren't registered and if she has any more out there that we don't know about.
On the "sale" paper I have, it has as a previous owner Mrs S Swallow but it's a bit ambiguous in that I don't know if she was the owner of Merlot (Legs) or Shahrazads Dream. SD would be 25 now if she's still alive and White Khan would be 22. Just seems sad that no one seems to know of their whereabouts or owners.
Must get a letter off to the AHS, maybe they might be able to throw some light on both of them.
Thanks again for your time and effort and hope all your lovely horses are doing well.
