Just wondered if anyone could work out any Crabbet % in my lad Merlot. I know that there is a lot of Polish in the White Khan line and there are a few Crabbet names I recognise on the dam side, so I don't think there is a lot but hoping that some of you breed experts might be able to throw some light on it - any help or information greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Not an expert as some others, but roughly 3/4 are old English lines, not sure how many qualify as Crabbet, White Lightening sire of course of world champion Camargue and his full brother res world champ ( I think from memory) Rostam. both ethereal horses who could really MOVE.

Oh many thanks for that Sue, nice to see it. He isn't actually registered with the AHS, don't even know his birth date as such, just he was born in July 1995. There are some nice horses in his pedigree.
Thanks again folks. Crabbet % would still be interesting if anyone has the time and inclination - maths was never my strong subject LOL. |

Afraid I can help re Crabbet % but I used White Khan on my mare 6yrs ago and sold the foal as a foal. Whene I next saw him as a 3yo he looked really 'Crabbetty' with lots of bone and good feet.
White Khan was a 3/4 brother to Camargue Too, being out of the same mare and by White Lightening (sire of Camargue) Sorry if you already know this
I don't know where White Khan is now, he was sold at a small local horse sale(the kind held in a dealers field where people offering not the right homes go....) and in fact the lady that owned him when I used him was very sadly killed last year
I would love to see a pic of your boy |

Hi Jamana
Thanks for that - small world ! I have tried several times to trace White Khan - as far as I know he ended up in Devon somewhere with a lady called Michelle and a gentleman whose name I can't remember. I emailed them and wrote several times but never did get a reply. Would love to see a picture of him and also Shahrazad's Dream (don't know where she is either). Sorry to hear about the lady who owned White Khan when you used him, what a dreadful shame.
Nice photo of your foal as well. Where is he now ? Merlot is the photo in my sig picture taken at the Tally Ho ride in 2006. |

When I used Khan he was owned by Michelle and her husband Kenwyn, they lived in Cornwall but I don't know how they got Khan.
I only have *proper* (non digi)pics of him Michelle was a helpful and friendly person, sadly she was brutally murdered in her home and the police have yet to find anyone She had sold her arabs by then, she also had a black mare by Simeon Sadik and it's foal by Camargue Too.
I think poor Khan has 'disappeared'
Not a very cheerful post i'm afraid
The foal I bred now lives with a lady near Penzance and her 30yo Arab that she has had from a foal, so a lovely home. He would probably love endurance, his half brother won the AHS marathon and also got best arab at the golden horseshoe |

Hi Jamana
Thank you so much for the information about White Khan - what a tragic and terrible story about Michelle - I wonder if this was maybe the reason that I never got a reply from them. How desperately sad and even sadder that White Khan has "disappeared". So sorry to hear it. Looks like I'm destined not to find him.
Nice to hear that your foal has a lovely home and maybe we'll see him out and about on the endurance circuit in a few years time !
Thanks again for your time and information. Now I only need to find Shahrazad's Dream !! |

Hi Moira
Wow - really (sorry, not disputing your calculations whatsoever, just hugely surprised and what a lovely surprise indeed - shocked, nay, stunned). Always assumed he was more Polish than anything else, but obviously seriously wrong !! That really has made my day !
Thanks very much for your time. Skipping off in delight now !! Woo hooooooooo. |

Hi Ginger Horse !
Yes, me too, would love to see a photo of Khan (would love to find out where he ended up as well and if he's still alive) and also Shahrazad's Dream. Your PBA looks very handsome, nice stamp of a lad. I wonder if it's worth writing to the AHS - whaddya think ? Might be worth a try ? |

Kayeed (Kheiralla x Joli) is entered in the 0-90 1m 4f and the 0-70 1m 6f at Wolverhampton this Sunday, if he's declared you'll get to see him there.
Linda x
Edited to add that he's been declared in the 0-70 1m6f |

OooH if you get a pic of Kayeed 'in action' please will you post it? I saw him when I bought Joli but would like an action shot, (then I can show my girl what she has to live up to!) |

This is him....on the left in 2002( At Salisbury)The winner is the grey in the middle (with Green Cap...Tokar Ibn Teelah)pic by Eric Jones.
Helen, I think I was there both years Kayeed was at the Marathon, if my memory serves me well, I think I remember him leaving the vet half way hold and going for leather bake out onto the course. I think it was either the year before or the year before that, before Emma Owen and Tell-a-Porkie Won, who we helped crew. we've got that year on video, I also think there might be some old photo's of that event somewhere and will have the catalouges also.. Yesterday at Wolverhampton Kayeed did apear & run, although not in the 1,2,3, he had a leg streatcher and we hope to see him out and about again soon. He's the most georgous flecked grey/pink ting, nice head, short compact little horse, carrying a bit of weight at the mo...and yes, I did just take a few snaps, I hope the official photographer will have one of him in real action...but in the mean time you'll have to make do with my snaps.... will post them here. Sue profile in the paddock. Down to the start. Over the line. Home James. Gear off. |

Thanks for those pics. He is quite a bit lighter than when I last saw him, but that was in 2000 so I guess he would be! he is old now though,16, amazing that he is still racing and looking so well and enjoying it. He has Joli's face, much more so than my filly. I will tell her that she has lots of work and versatility to live up to! |

Also, Found a couple of pic's of him from the Marathon at Salisbury in 2002, the year Tokar Ibn Teelah won...I think Jim Lane won the year before on Safinia, so I'm wondering who won the year before that. But,I think Emma Owen Won in 1999 on Flittermouze and again in 2005?? on Tell a Porkie. Usually all the previous winner are listed in the back of the programme..so lets hope someone gives us the info.. Sue |

I'm not sure when he won, but it was after I sold Joli and that was in 2003 and before I bought her daughter which was in 2006. I saw it in the H&H............... |

Just to add that KAYEED was 2nd at ARO Warwick races on Saturday 11th October at a cool 20 - 1,with an OR 50, so as you see he finishing the season on a high, wished I'd have had a bet on him...and that I can now confirm that he won the Marathon in 2003 at Thorseby Hall in 1h.22m. I was there... I was also there the following year when Tell a Porkie won for Emma Owen and some of us drank Champagne from the winners cup.
Abnd I'm almost sure we've had the Whit Khan photo's out before ???? any one remember what year he was born and what the studs name was he was at.... Sue |

Not sure what year White Khan was born but think he was bred by Souter House Arabians (he was AHSB Studbook 16 and licence number 9000905). The sale paper I have for Merlot (his name was Legs at the time of sale) was from Melton Auctions in March 1997 as a 2 year old) and White Khan's owner at the time was Mr J B Greenwood.
The mare Shahrazad's Dream was born in 1983 AHSB 16.
