Just popped out this morning and bought mine amigo rugs to small !! but the size of their med and heavy weight same make last year fit fine !! Just been and swapped them now for the 6ft and only just fit !! god my arabs are not huge .. Wondering if the stock is wrong or they have changed the design.. Have darts at the front etc still!! Now will have to get refund and drive miles for diferent make as this is all they had in stock for lightweights !! Mare stocky 14.2 baby 15.1+ any suggestions as to what make for lightweights.. Usually i have this make and have rambo never had a problem before but only want lightweights for a couple weeks so dont want to spend a fortune.. These were £30

The Amigo Lite I have for Dennis is 6ft - all his other Rhino and Rambo rugs are 5ft 9 so they do come up small. I got mine from Cybercheckout and paid about £30 for it. Have to say its been brillinat. It's only the 600d one and it has never leaked no matter how much its rained. Very impressed for the money. |

Thanks Vera.. going by the weather will keep them they clear enough at the neck for them.. was going to change them but as you say for the money the fact they dont leak will do them for next couple of weeks until they go into heavy ones.. thanks.. Trouble is when your on your own and have horses its nice to have that second oppinion at times !! my name should be Billy !! as daughter back at school now and that was my only other human company in the yard |

they do come up small...l just buy a bigger size and like others on her l get mine off of ebay
postage from cybercheckout is 2.99 and they are fast [usually next day]
great comfy rugs that fit arabs realy well...do have a few others but they were bought locally, emergency buys and amigo were not available then [ but have since talked them in to stocking the horseware range]

I bought an Amigo lite turnout for wet days this summer - worse rug I have ever bought!! Its the ONLY rug that has rubbed the mane out. Very disappointed. Lisa |

Agree with Vera, I have the exact same one for Lilly and it hasn't leaked and she was out for awhile in a torrential downpour untill I could get her in. It does rub her mane abit but I think that's because she's a yearling and doesn't fit a 5'0 but 5'3 is too big. My PBA is out in the medium weight atm and she has a gorgeous long mane and it hasn't done anything to hers.
She is a 5'0 but it came up too small so we returned and got a 5'3 instead which is a bit restrictive, means she can't run about too much which she doesn't do anyway spec in this weather but Lilly's new Amigo medium weight fits her perfectly so may just be new stock or something |

We were given one and it has been very useful - always a size smaller than the label though! They are a very small fit and can press on manes / withers - they are however good on youngsters (not as bulky around the front as mature horses) or the very fit horses ( ours are a bit more cuddly )
Angel - I have some Kingshead and am very pleased with them |

I have just bought an Amigo 1200 denier lightweight rug for my 2 year old anglo-she is about 15.2 I was surprised by the fit as it is not overly generous around the neck and chest. Definitely a different cut to the Rambo model which I am a great fan of. I doubt if it will last her through the winter fit-wise, I bought a 6ft3in which is a bit long length wise, but I certainly couln't have gone any smaller in terms of neck/chest area. It will do for now though-it's not stopped raining all day so I am glad I have put a rug on her |

I have the Amigo Medium in 6ft for Pasha and it fits him fine - all his rugs are 6ft (bucas, WB & Rambo) - he is 15.2hh and a v. chunky russian - never had problems with rubbing chest or anything but he always rubs the bottom bit of his mane in whatever rug he's in |

Oh dear, I was going to buy an Amigo next week for my very compact 15.2 youngster - she's 5'6" long and my 5'6" Rambo fits her OK, and next door's 5'9" Amigo was too big for her but that's an older rug. Don't know what to do now! |

I wonder if I have problems because I have a 5' 9" which is her usual size. Maybe I should've got a 6'? Lisa |

Jane were they the Masta "Zing", a couple of the girls on our yard bought them and both leaked yet the "checktech lightweights" are fine. |

Zenitha - would gladly set fire to all the Masta rugs we have!!!
They seem to fit other people's horses just fine but the fit/cut between styles is SO way out my 15.2hh anglo mare (compact) wears a 5-9 fly sheet (was cheap!) but a 6-9 cooler (was a hand me down)
I have a 6-9 LW stable given me - thinking "way too big for any of mine" I was going to pass it on, but it only just does up around the neck on my 16hh hunter (always a 6-3) so used it under his turnout (lived out all winter)
The wither pads fall out and the vents on some of them just cry out for an ambitious roller to tread on them and shred the rug as they get up
Rant over - they're just not for me |

I brought an amigo light and it fits ok, but you can see that it rubs my mares shoulders as she moves. but the reason that i hate it is because it has rubbed her lovely mane away where it sits on herneck....i have never had this problem with any other rug. Ive realised that the amigo rugs dont have the soft sheepskin padding patch where it sits on the necklike most rugs do.
I won't be buying their rugs again but i am in the process of sewing my own shepskin pad in to place.
However i can highly reccommend shires rugs. i have a mixture of different models and weights and they are brilliant. |

Argh... just read this thread after ordering a Masta middleweight that was on sale, so hope it's ok or it'll be on ebay! Also ordered another Mark Todd rug though - best fitting rugs I've found for my boy (on a student budget ) would never buy another Rhinegold or Weatherbeeta. |

Holly - after reading everyone elses views I thought I was the only one with a problem. At least I'm not alone now! - as I said earlier, Rosie lost the lower section of her mane> Lisa |

but i do have masta heavyweights and they're brilliant! never rub and have very generous necks which dont rub manes
I also have a RAMBO heavyweight ( the red one) and its brilliant but I couldn't afford another one
shires rugs are very good as well

i find Mark Todd rugs are fantastic. Bought Namuun a leight weight turn out for 50 quid but they fit really well and don't rug her mane at all. |
