I'm torn on what weight rug to put on, the weathers horrific but she doesn't seem that cold. What have yours got on?

I gave up and brought mine in for the winter tonight
They had been out with rainsheets on at night, but it's SO awful I've brought them both in.
one's got a fleece on and the others got a lightweight rug on ( but I'm desperatly trying to stop his winter coat as he's going to the BAC on the 21st! )
They were out at night in during the day... but I like them tucked up in bed when it's so foul  |

None - horses all seem perfectly happy despite the monsoon conditions here in SW Wales - they have lots of grass & good natural shelter in the fields.
Edited to say that I have today put two Weatherbeta foal rugs (lightweight) on the two foals Charlie & Ruby as the forecast here for the next day or so is absolutly dire!!! |

Nothing..
although i am ready to put lightweights on anytime..
Its still warm at the moment here.. but mine hate rain!!
Have them in when ever forcast shows wet at night with stable doors oppening onto their own little yards so they can suit themselves..

I've given up too ~ she's in at night for the winter now .
I just cannot believe how cold and horrible it is  .

None, my three still out 24/7, we have lots of grass and good shelter, all seem perfectly happy. Then again even in Winter, I don't rug. They are in every night and out every day unless weather horrendous. I think it's going to be an early, early winter!!

I have to say, that when my welsh filly is shivering with cold, my arab filly is seen grazing in the middle of the field looking happy as larry! Last winter i made the mistake of rugging her in a nice heavy combo, and she sweated like a good un. This year i've bought her a light weight standard and a medium weight for if it gets really cold. They have a shelter and WAY too much grass. I won't rug her unless i have to.

Dont do rugs in the 'Summer' even if it feels like winter. Mine are quite happy eau naturell at the mo.

| None. Mine are happily grazing; it might be blowing a bit and with occasional showers but it's not cold. Far too early to rug up in my opinion or I'll have nothing to give them when it really is bad. |

All mine are rugged and have been for a a bit ...all in fleece's at night and light turn-out rugs in the day... If (and its a big if), we have a nice day they go out with nothing on, all of mine hate the rain and wind but i would say we get a lot of it!
I think we all differ with our horses and some are not so good in the wind and rain and others just carry on munching the grass! So i would say go with how your filly/mare is looking and actting - we all know are horses!

Mine are both naked the majority of the time, if it's really horrible rain then I put a rainsheet on but that's the lot. Brought them in tonight as my grass is basically gone now, but they are really warm and cozy so definatly no need for rugs yet.
Although I will admit i've been on one hell of a spending spree a few weeks ago and outfitted Kira with most weights of rugs as she came with none, Bramble also has been treated to a couple. I feel a wet and soggy winter coming |

I went up this morning as off work, OMG it was freezing! My lad came in cold and hungry, gave him some hay which he hogged to first few mouth fulls and made himself choke again! So he will be rugged at night if the lil monkey will be caught! 
Left him with a light weight on to be change to a medium over night due to the bad weather forecast.
He'll also get more grass during the day if he will be caught when I'm work.

Well...I have given in, Crystal is wearing her medium weight turnout rug 24/7, she is still out, but as she is 22, and we are having utterly crappy weather....I have reluctantly decided to rug her up.
I'm desperately trying to keep Crystal's summer coat for BAHPAC on 20th...the rug *seems* to be doing the trick....so fingers crossed!!!! She will be coming in at night though shortly.

No rugs yet but I did bring mine in last night and tonight. It's quite cool and we've had torrential rain. and we are also going to BACs, so don't want him looking like a woolly mammoth yet. I really don't want to have to clip him, so it's warm beds and extra food. Maybe we'll get an Indian summer yet??? Pleeeeze |

| Mine are already getting very fluffy, think i'll be clipping the newfie in a few weeks if i'm not careful when it's normally the end of flipping october when I have to. Kira will not see clippers this year at least and hopefully i'll catch her coat next year |

My lot have all got quite heavy stable rugs on tonight as this morning the arabs were actually shivering They have a big barn with internal stables but the wind was whistling through last night. Felt terrible this morning when i got down to the stables. Some horses feel it more than others though as our little pony is never bothered with the weather. |

| mine are in at night no rugs apart from my 2 fillies who have cotton show rugs on as they are being shown in a couple of weeks, they are all out during the day in lightweights if its raining and cold, otherwise they are out naked. |

My old arab would have been in a rainsheet or lightweight all summer at night time. He hated the wind and the rain, I got fed up with finding him shaking and tucked up on a 'summer' morning so always rugged him at night.
Hmmmmm, rugs here, not yet. The arab is standing in the barn aisle sweating now and refusing to set foot outside into the sun. |

Don't do rugs, never have, not even in winter (but she comes in at night from November to about May).
But mine copes ok - not all of them do.

Well I sent all my rugs for cleaning & reproofing on Monday. Needless to say the weather really turned last night (after some lovely sunshine at teatime ) So I brought in a rather bedraggled Honeyb, waited for 2 hours for the furbie to dry off & hunted out an old med weight turnout. Ripped lining dodgey straps she looks a treat. But after 10 mins of being in & eating her tea she was screeching to go back out again Shes fine with the cold but combined with the horrid rain I don't want her loosing condition. So rug it is & back out to play If it wasn't at the cleaners it would be lightweight turnout  |

mine have had lightweight rain sheets on and off for the last month..today my se got a slighly heavyer rug on as she feels the cold..but today got the medium weight rugs are out for when they are needed...which feels like it might be sooner rather than later
mine soon let me know when they get a bit chilled
the heavyweights are all cleaned but still away untill needed

if l don't put the rugs on and it rains l get reproachfull looks and dramatic shivers...and an odd shudder...this however magicly stops when l produce apples or carrots! ummmmmm |

Yup sorry to say mine are out most days in rainsheets and in most nights naked (unless the grass is dry and the forecast good overnight) as I am battling mud fever already... In August  |
