this is really driving me nuts.Ive NEVER had any dealings with it before!! Herbs is a very fussy eater.Spoke to Roger Heath at Trinity and he suggested its a zinc deficiancy, supplied me with some nutrients of which he should biuld up to 2 scoops a day, BUT FUSSY HORSE will only eat 1/2 a scoop if im lucky!!!PLease can some one come up with a bright idea .The vitamin E and selineium worked through out the winter to some extent but we stopped feeding it in may because my other half said it waSnt coming back and i was wasting my time.well what pigment he did have is all gone virtually now this is really upsetting me.hes ok in himself chubby, and cheeky etc just looks so un becoming. i thought about putting a lick in the paddock, but with 5 others it would be gone in 5 minutes. Please all you good folks, can anyone help.

Hi Libby, I know this has probably been mentioned before but in my little experiance with this problem it was seaweed that did the trick. Tish, my mare was really bad with it, all round her eyes. I gave her the seaweed all winter, just a little scoop in both her feeds. I didnt notice any differance at first untill the start of spring then as if by magic when her coat changed so did the pigment. She is now back to black and has had no probs for 3 years now. Just try to give whatever you try time to work, ( and I mean months not weeks) worked for Tish. GOOD LUCK. |

Speak to Roger again and he will come up with something. He always does. I may be wrong but seaweed has zinc in it and it is more palatable. Roger has a very good seaweed supplement. |

Red Cell is pretty good. Over a long period of time though, don't expect miracles !!! |

Ok, i have a three year old with severe pigment loss at one stage, and i fed him seaweed and copper, vet couldn't offer any advice, supplements worked a little, i have since turned him out to grass and he's been out for about 4 weeks now, in those four weeks with nothing other than grass it has all gone?! Bizarre, and i'll dig out some before and after pictures..... Don't give up hope. |

Nope local, seaweed is cheap as chips at saddlery, again i used personal opinions with the copper, and used Equine America copper supplement. According to vets and some you should soil test before feeding copper as it can be toxic in to high a dose, but i ignored that.... not saying everyone should though.

Someone said to me when they had to give there horse medicine they used to put it in angel delight - there horse loved it! Perhaps you could put some vitamins in some angel delight? Or something else very yummy....or I could just be completley barking up the wrong tree... |
