Khaziya had a first foal for us who had a very undershot jaw and was put down at weaning age. She then aborted her next foal and we failed to get her to breed again. She was a very, very pretty little mare and suberbly bred - El Shaklan / Kazra. Paolo Gucci saw her out in the fields wandering about and demanded to buy her. We pointed out her disastrous breeding record as my mother still did not want to part with her but he insisted that he must have her. She did not have a foal for him. A few years later Sheikh Hamad from Al Shaqab came up to me and said he had a much, much better daughter of El Shaklan than Atlantica - which seemed a little rude - but as I was in Qatar I asked to see this mare. I was highly amused to find it was Khaziya. I am under the impression that she did not breed out there either - but I would not know if she is still alive. She is an exact contempory of Maleik who is still alive in ME at 29 so she may be. |

According to the AHSB studbooks, I have two registered foals for Khaziya :
- Katama ° 1983 by Vesubio - Khazmana ° 1986 by Soliman, who became a good broodmare, giving birth to Khaled Pasha, Khatifa (1st ridden arabian pairs Malvern 2002), Khazabi, Khazeema ( a lovely broodmare by Russleem which I saw a couple of years ago at Suzanne Reiters place in Germany) and Khazhuv.
So surely Khaziya gave at least one other foal besied the filly that was put down (which was Katama ?)

Yikes Sigrid - you are quite right !!
Shows what happens when you rely on memory alone !
Khazmana was a very successful mare too, owned from a foal by Marianne Slesinger, several times a winner at Malvern and elsewhere
thanks for the correction |

Hi
I have Khazhuv who is by Khazmana. I did contact Marianne about 4(ish) years ago (to let her know that Khazhuv was longlisted for the YR world championships in Bahrain) and I'm pretty sure she still had her then. I don't have her e mail address anymore as a change of computer meant I lost loads of contacts!
