What colours can foals be born if they are to be BLACK.

I have two silver born foals who are definately going to be black, and another foal who was born very dark bay and he now seems to turning (to my delight) BLACK???

Interesting thought, could it be a sign of homozygosity perhaps? Out of interest what colour mares are they out of beck?

Thinking along the lines of greying foals sporting a brighter and more vivid foal coat than a non greying foal which tends to be more pastel coloured? Just a thought. :-)

I've had my filly tested to see what colour she was going to turn out as she's by a grey out of a dark bay. But having Thee Deserado in her pedigree he throws black in his off spring. Turns out it looks like she's going to be bay.

Not sure i understand you there Beck!!!

If Wiper is a grey born black and the dams of the foals are black/brown, dark bay & bay then all the dams are also black based and homozygosity is a definate possibility for all three foals.
