hi all, I think i have lost my boy's passport!!! i think it was in our car when we took it back to the garage to hand it back because it had broken down for the umpteenth time. He is registered with the AHS, can i get a replacement?, and what can i do about the vaccination record up till now? he has had the same vet vaccinate for 4 of his 5 years. his baby ones would have been started at the stud he was born at. All advice welcome. thanks

God, nightmare Ang! I can't advise at all. I'd imagine the whole thing about a passport is that you can't get a 'duplicate' or the real one could be tampered with and used as a forged document.
I'd call the AHS as soon as you can tomorrow and ask for definite advice. They are the only people to tell you without doubt what your options are.
Do hope you manage to sort it. As I say to my children, if you've lost something you MUST find, you have to make a systematic search, going through every single thing, wherever, backwards from the time you lost it.
Good luck! |

I think you may be able to get a duplicate one as mine were lost in the post and the AHS issued new ones. |

I believe you can get a duplicate- we bought a mare whose passport was stamped duplicate and the AHS overstamped without fuss.
We then bought another mare from a lady who had just been through a divorce and the passport was in the house and her ex refused to let her have it. the AHS said we could apply for another. Think the cost was about £50.
Best thing is to ring them and speak to them, they were really helpful with us. |

Yes, think you can get a duplicate, and as long as the vets have a record of all the vaccinations he/she should be able to enter them into the duplicate passport. |

hi, yes you can get a duplicate pass port, i needed to for one of my mares recently so i could travel her home, it cost £35.00, it means you would need to get the vac records from your vet to put in again. karen |

The previous owner of one of my horses had lost his passport and I got a replacement from the AHS. Your vet will have a record of his jabs and so should the other vet (it isn't too long ago so they should still have his records on their computer). If you get details of the vet who did the original ones from the breeder your vet can ring and get a fax from the other vet and he can then do the passport for you.
Hope that helps.
