We are very pleased to present Dovetshill Smarty Pants, a filly by one of our stallions, TP Starbuck. She is homozygous for the colour gene and was proudly bred by Jenny Herries and her mum, Annie Taylor. We got to play with her for a few days when her own mum was back for a repeat order. She is 43.75% Arabian. Missing her already and she only went home a few hours ago. TeePee's face when he saw the foal was a picture of utter bewilderment.
Proud dad TP Starbuck

They say the camera never lies so am i right in thinking i can see black skin under totally white hair on this little fillies bottom?!
She's beautiful - what breed is mum? |

Yes, Havenbeech, there is a patch of black skin on her bottom. Her mum is a very plain, chestnut and white, coloured mare of unknown breeding, sort of like a coloured version of a Haflinger. The dam is nicely put together but has quite a plain head. TeePee certainly puts on the quality and you could pick her out as his in a field full of mares and foals.
Martine, the spots are often a clue to the homozygous gene as it is very common for horses that are homozygous to have similar spots, sort of like cat paw prints. |

Well done on breeding such quality foals from your boys, the markings on the filly are truly outstanding and most definately point to her being homozygous don't they. I have a pintabian filly who is homozygous but she has no obvious markings to bring you to the conclusion she is homozygous for tobiano. I bet the owner is over the moon on breeding such a striking filly. Jackie |
