Can someone give me some help please - I have just bought a new addition, a gorgeous grey from Belgium with a Belgium arab horse stud book passport. Do I need to register him with AHS? and is it ok to send my passport off for change of ownership - i.e will I ever see it again ? Thanks in advance if anyone can advise Tracy

Tracy what I suggest you do is contact the AHS office on Monday and they will give you all the info you need.
When we imported horses from Holland - we had to register them in the UK, you send your passport and they update into the UK system, along with issuing UK registration - it does cost but AHS will inform you of everything. |

Thanks Jingo, I will ring them. The passport I have got is a valid EU one so I know its an offence to replace it with a UK one but I jst need to know if peole do send them back for updating with the Belgian organisation. |

Hi - holding the passport is not proof of ownership of the horse. The registration papers will need to be transferred from the Belgian registry to the Arab Horse Society. There is an export fee payable to the belgian Registry and also an import fee payable to the Arab Horse Society. The best thing to do is to phone the AHS on Monday for further information. Congratulation by the way - tell us about your new boy? |

Thanks Mirage, I will call them on Monday.
He is unbeleivably laid back and easy going, his sire is AS Sinans Pacha but im just trying now to contact his breeder to find out a little bit more about him and how/why he has ended up in the UK. He has come to us through a friend via a dealer, he is only 3.5 yrs old and was still entire until 6 weeks ago so it just seems too good to be true ( just hope Im not opening a can of worms and he's been stolen !) Thank you for your interest, I dont post very often but when I do you are all very helpful - thank you |

That is why I am finding it hard to understand how he has managed to get over here (apparantly only leaving his breeder on Nov 2007) going to a 2nd owner and then ending up in the UK around Mid April in a VERY poor condition (though that could be due to him being entire and stressing the weight off if mares were around). I cant believe how good he is, we only got him yesterday but this morning we took himup the lane and walked him down the road to see traffic and he never batted an eyelid - he seems very sensible and if there are any other people on here with animals with the same sire I would be interested to know if the temperament is typical.Tracy |
