I know there are folk on here who do things for mags - Roseanne is my imediate thought!
My friend who owns the grand old stallion Magic Farook....he's n0w 26 & not at public stud. She has told me some amazing tales of when he was younger....she did everything with him bar endurance -on her own with him.....one lovely tale she told me a while speaking to her half an hour ago - was when he was a demo horse for a shoeing thing....& she was approached by folk with a blind lady in a wheelchair - who asked if she could go & be next to him - Jackie agreed because she trusted her boy - & the lady was wheeled in next to the boy.....Jackie said he lowered his head into the ladies lap & stood quietly while she felt all over his head - in his ears etc - he was like a little lamb with the lady!!!
Jackie is writing down his life history with her.....I would love to get this into print - on here?? & would be fantastic to get it into the AHS & .............this horse has a rich history & a lot of wonderful tales to tell!!!!
He was the first Arab stallion to be a premium stallion!!!
Jackie thought that folk wouldn't be interested in her old boy - I said YES they would!!!! ~She has done many exciting things with him over the years & I think we should all hear about his exploits!!!
I saw him the other day & OMG - he looks like a 10 year old - not 26!!!
Let me know if you can help!!!! Jackie is a single mum & can't afford to pay - hence me being cheeky on here & asking is someone would love to tell a wonderful tale of an Arabian stallion - for free!!! Jackie isn't doing this to advertise her stallion (he's not at stud) - I told her (much to her amazement!!) that folk would lovde to hear about his rich life!!!

Judith very nice story indeed. The reporting thing is very simple. You just ask questions so you get the person to talk as though they were chatting over the fence. That you've already done it's quite clear!! If you can get her to talk about these things to you on tape (a dictaphone perhaps?) that would be great as we'd have verbatim quotes too.
Does she have photos of any of the scenes she's recounted to you? Her stories will cry out for pictures. There's a saying that a picture tells a thousand words, and it's really true.
If you can get the stories put down on tape, or written out any old how, I'd be happy to write them into a feature. That's just a technique of writing an introduction and joining the stories together with a bit of 'spiel', and adding an appropriate finish to the piece.
I've been horribly busy over the past month helping my son over a rush of work which will last for the next couple of weeks but would be able to deal with the words one evening if you can get them to me. She sounds great to meet! So does Magic Farook!
Make sure she gets some great pictures of him now, in his old age as well as ones from years gone by... |

Jackie is going to write all down - she has some fantastic tales/experiences to relate with "Sunny" - he was the first Arab stallion to be tested & graded!!! Shes raced him, shown him in hand & under saddle & done just about everything else under saddle apart from endurance - which she thinks he would have excelled at given the chance!
She is going to write everthing down & has lots of photos which I can copy. I am going to go & take photos of him etc.
Roseanne you are so kind!!!!! whts the best floramt to get words/photos to you??

That will be a lovely story to read, especially with pictures. Sunny is related to my lovely old stallion Zeyn, on the tail female line, and I would imagine that Sunny's character is as colourful and endearing as Zeyn's was!!!

| I used to get things in print for the now defunct Arabian-link magazine, including an article on Arioso, who got his premium status in his twenties, so if no-one else is offering, and its not a rush job as I have got some things that MUST be done before end of august, pm me. |

| Judith get photos of her and the horse(s) before too - anything she has in her collection. It's so good to see the story from the beginning in pictures. And don't bother being too careful wording it - slang, swearwords and all! It can be dealt with and made into a good story... Keep in plenty of minor detail which is often the best stuff. Anything you'd tell people around the dinner table or in the yard - if they were horsey pals! |
