Yes I mean Suggs as in Madness front man Graham McPherson.
He was a hero of mine when I was younger (much younger!). Does anyone else like me think its incredibly sad that he is reduced to doing adverts for Birds Eye?

Well - he's gotta make a living somehow! when Madness are asking for fees in excess of £100,000 - yes that's right £100,000 per show they won't work that much |

I know but it all looks a bit desperate to me. He's too cool to be letting himself down like that. |

It all comes down to hard cash! he probably made enough out of that ad to live on for quite a long time, you'd be surprised at how much these people make a certain person from Bad Manners really annoyed us a few years ago by refusing £200,000 for an ad said it wasn't enough my commission on that would have kept the horses in luxuries for a few years! |

Yes you are right, but he is SUGGS of MADNESS and he should have more pride!!!!
I get the same feeling when I see William Shatner - he is CAPTAIN JAMES T KIRK of the starship ENTERPRISE. He does not need to do demeaning baffoon parts in silly ads and TV programmes!!! |

There is another factor to be taken into account and that is EGO! the need to be in the public eye, in any way they can sorry, but it is a sad fact - I know too many of these people the ones you don't see that much tend to have smaller egos! |

Paul Gascoine - Gazza! As for Suggs, loved his music when younger still do but recall that i dumped Birds Eye adverts in room 101 some time ago - whoever let him out - get back in there - either that or do what you used to do best!!!!!!

well i dont think thats strictly true,,he still tours and does tour,,in fact his wife, stage name(Betty Bright ) did a one off gig with her old band Deaf School last september in Liverpool,,it was truely awesome,,and suggs came on and sang some tunes with her, much to the delight of the audience..i always remember a quote from suggs,,which was " He liked Deaf School , so much , he married the singer"..ha ha,,,also i was told the saxophonist that is in madness and was in deaf school played ,this month in Roger Waters's Band for the dark side of the moon tour,,but i agree the advert stuff is cheesy an naff,,but its an extra income, and probably trawls in mega monies,he still is actively playing in madness and although sumtimes they disapear from a high profile spotlight thay are still doing the music, maybe with not the same impact as when they were "hip" all those years ago so they sumtimes can go un noticed...infact i might go and see them for old times sake,,they were great...my favourite madness song was "The Prince"...oooo i can just see it now that madness dance i use to do in the youth club...they were great days xxxxLynne |

God Vera, when I saw the title of this thread I thought he'd died - not just done an advert...
It just shows that time goes by and, whatever lifestyle people aspire to when young, they tend to revert to the traditional conservative (small C!) life and with it a desire for money - more and more of it!
Suggs must be worth a bit! |

Whenever I think of Suggs I think of Chris Ewbank and Top of the Pops. Made me laugh and laugh. |
