sent our camera into get fixed under warrenty and they have lost it. We took it to the shop we purchased it from(jessops) and they sent it back to the manufacturer to fix and they fixed the camera found several faults and then lost it. We were chasing it up today and they couldn't find it apperantly its been missing for more than just today cause their was a note on the system to ring us and they never did. so gave them four hours to do the ringing round trying to source it and phoned back and they still couldn't find out where it was all they knew was it wasn't still in the workshop, and jessops didn't have it. they were supposed to ring back today but never so will have to do some more chasing tomoro, if they can't find surely they will need to give us a new one, it was only 8 months old and not a scratch.
Similar thing happened to us but with a Konica. OH dropped it down the side of a mountain, broke the case, sent it off to Konica, who fixed it then lost it, they fessed up and it was replaced with brand new up to date model, proper service and a result !
Canon should replace for you especially as under warrenty, very bad service if they don't.
