Hi
I use a ported straight bar snaffle with small rings on our stallion, bought at our local tack shop for about £13. I bought bit clips from a place selling Arabians halters but they didn't look very strong so I now use small "repair links" which screw together that I bought from Focus. They are no bigger than the bit clips, and strong, don't come open and I feel in control.
Bought an inhand halter with one of the little narrow stallion jointed bits on and he hated it- the bit hurt his mouth because it was so narrow (he is only 4) and the hooks the chain attached to gave us no end of trouble because they didn't close up enough to stop the chain slipping off (which happened several times and only worked out ok because he is pretty sensible for his age!) Unless I can find a way to fit a nicer bit to it and alter the hooks I shan't use it again. Used it at two shows last year thats all and it is a shame because it is very pretty. |
