I recycle as much as possible. This week the dustmen left all my stuff, which was the same type, amount and in the same container as usual. I phoned to get it collected and they took it a day later but left me a letter. The reason for not collecting it was that I had used my own container and I should put it into plastic bags (Yes, the plastic bags that we are supposed to be trying not to use any more) I should not use my own container because they couldn't do a risk assessment on all different types of container. Guess what the container is?
A Dustbin! Am I mad or are they. Where can I send this story??

That's totally stupid mind you - around her they're just as bad, we can recycle paper, cardboard, plastic bottles (no tops), and all cans, no glass and no other types of plastic. They used to take all plastic, which was great, now we have trouble getting rid of it. All my haylage is wrapped in recyclable plastic, but when I took it all to the tip, sorry - recycling centre they wouldn't take it, saying it wasn't household rubbish! when I asked what to do with it I was told to take it to the bottom of my paddock and burn it |

It makes me really angry considering the amount council tax has just gone up again!!! We are fortunate that house and yard are both areas your allowed to burn have fires!!!! so thats what happens, I know back along a neighbour of mine left 2 extra bin bags beside his dustbin when it was collection and they left them, when he rang up it would have been a extra charge to take them!!!! Also they sent us letters last year if we wanted brown dustbins for garden waste at a extra cost of £80 a year. All glass we have to recycle ourselves so my husband takes it all once a month to the glass banks!!! Joke is when you put all your shopping away halve of it you do not need all the boxes and extra wrappings. |

send a little ditty to your local paper!!! just for a giggle!!
Does make me cross though... its our recycling day today... if your bin lid is slight a jar, they will not take it! so people end up putting it in their normal waste bin... if you leave anything next to your recycling bin, they will not take it! so yes, people end up putting it in their normal waste bin! AND.... if you put your bin on the edge of your drive, and not fully on the path, they will not take it!! How stupid, for the sake of 4 inches!!!!! grrrrrrr |

I am having to pretend I haven't seen this, cos once I start, I won't stop......
Seeing as how the local elections are on today, I would definitely send it to your MP and also your local councillor - let them work for their expenses for a change, instead of just swanning about shaking hands. See I told you, soapbox........away.................
Going back to my merkins, much safer. |

well they didnt take my bin the other day as it wasnt fully on the pavement OH drove in front of the lorry got out and asked why? "they arnt allowed to cross onto property boundaries as they arnt insured on private property!" OH pointed out the car was blocking the entire estate and wouldnt be moved untill our bin was suddenly the lazy sod could walk back down the rd onto Garden get bin empty it and put it back! OH said thank you very much and drove to work!
If our normal bin has more than it can hold they wont take extra but if the recyling has more they will take it as long as its not in plastic bags as they are not reylceable. We even have a glass box that fits in recyl;ng bin.
I did 3 skip runs on sunday with the car packed and eac time i arrived one of the workers came over and helpped me unload the stuff to the correct places and when i arrived with an old wet mattress 2 of them took it off before i could even ask!
My mum lives 15miles away and they wont take paper or glass they have to pay extra for a garden bin But once a month a lorry comes round to collect skip stuff eg sofas washing machines ect |
