I am really down in the dumps at the minute. I am fed up with it hurting when I ride so can only do short rides, going back to physio 6th May. My boss has kicked off that I have to take 2 hours off work to travel and have physio.
Money worries £400 garage bill and having to sell my prized collection of britains toys on e-bay
my boss is a hormonal git, yes he is a blook that seems to have monthly's

It never seems to end, my boss reduced me to tears yesterday as he was so rude and inconsiderate, and I don't cry very easily normally.

I have got to the point where the only reason I get out of bed is for Zebedee

Sorry to moan but just had to air my problems somewhere

Let the miserable sod kick off....... Would he prefer it if you were off work for several weeks instead of 2 hours

Keep your chin up.. I know how the bad back feels, I have been going to the chiropractor for the last year, and still no bloody better. I too am thinking of changing to physiotherapy.

Paul xXx

Thanks Paul.
I have suffered a back bad since I was temporary paralised from compression of the spine when I was 18 after being mowed over and crushed by 16.2 mare, hence not to much love for mares!
I had Chiropractor who was good in the short term but it didn't help with my posture so the problem reoccured so now trying physio.
Sad fact is Zeb is getting fat and quite lively so just want to get on and ride but as I get pins and needle and cramp in my right hip and leg it makes it hard to school him properly.

Super sad that it has all started off again as I was looking forward to coming and helping with the Rollestone babies, I can bearly do mine at the mo and i help do others down the yard for extra money.

Rosettes have come to a hault so annoyed as got £160 of ribbon in my spare room doing nothing.

Moaning again sorry

Thanks Paul

Nice boss - NOT !! Like Paul says, let him kick off, he'll just have to get over it, the big girl. He should be thankful that it's not him that's having to have physio.

The one shining light in all this is your pony - he'll be there for you when no one else is and you can do your crying in his mane with no one around. Great salve are ponies, mine was for me many years ago now, kept me sane when things were really bad and it seemed like there wasn't even a spark at the end of the tunnel. Hang on in there.

Thank you Merlot. I'm sure that Zebedee thinks I am trying to give him a shower everytime he comes in. I am lucky as he is a very acffectionate boy and nuzzles me, when I had a super sobbing session up there last night I hugged his neck and played with his mane and it felt like he tried to hug me as he turned his head towards his shoulder, well he could have been telling me hurry up my tummy is growling I suppose, but that made me sob more.

If it wasn't for horses I'm sure I wouldn't still be going.

So sorry to hear you're so fed up just now. I too have a boss who can reduce me to tears and make me generally feel rubbish about things. As a joke, my folks suggested I get a punch ball and stick a photo of him on it and have a go at it every night, or make a voodoo doll...if only!
Re. your sore back. Have you tried a Heather Moffat Seat saver? I have problems with my lower back after prolapsed discs and find that this makes a huge difference to my comfort! Just a thought.
And yes, our horses really are the saving grace for many of us and can usually put a smile on our otherwise faces!

Anne I have got a fantastic seat saver on my saddle, not heather moffat but same insides I also have a very thick and fluffy sheepskin seat saver, not that I have sat on new fluffy cover yet! I am going to try and lunge him today take the wind out of his sails and try for a quiet sit on, but he does squares not circles for lunging!
As for Vodoo dollI don't think they would make them big nough to mimick him!!!

Poor you Geena!!! I just hate male bosses like that!!! One piece of advice though: When he decides to rant, put your hand on your hip, put on your best smile, think of something positive and funny (like the antics Zebedee gets up to!!!), and when the a***hole stops ranting just reply "Yes boss, whatever you say", turn and walk away in the safe knowledge that you have really pee'd him off!!!!

Hope this helps, if not, it will make you feel so much better!!!

Carla, xx.

Right what you need right now is

Sofa
Duvet
Wine
Chocolate
Good film

This will give you a short term fix for a few hours, giving you time to gather your strength. Smile at you boss and say that would he rather you struggle in and take the off few hours off or go off for two weeks solid sick leave, but remember smile while saying it!!

Course if you're up for a fight then tell him how he made you feel, that you feel bullied, harressed and undervalued and you'll be approaching the citizan advice for advice on how to proceed.....

Snap Geena. My Boss got right on my nerves yesterday. The only thing that kept me going was thinking of Merlot's joke and saying "whatever" to everything he said.

Back pain is awful - is it lower back pain? I have an brilliant exercise (given by a physio) that really helps that. Only works for lower back though but if its helpful I'll post it.

Yes please it is lower back nerve supression which expresses itself as pain and pins and needles in my hip and right leg. I'm sure part of the problem is my screen on my computer doesn't adjust and it is low so it stands ontop 2yellow pages, but really needs to be higher, boss told me off and I had to move them, now back to low screen and tilted head.
Awful thing is my boss is also a bully to others in the office but he has a financial hold on them so they have to take it. We have also secured a contract in Londaon, bearing in mind we are Devon based and the two MD's are fighing about it as one wanted to do it and the other didn't So my boss went behind the others and got the job!! We are also due an office move in July so can't have time off for my birthday. They have bought an electrical company too and there is only me full time in the office on the construction side with one contracts manager away (also my dad!) and two new members of staff starting the day I have physio!!!!!!!!!

Geena. Having read this thread and sent a virtual kick up the arse and shot your boss with an round from an AK47 I have the following thoughts.

Your boss is responsible for your health and safety while you are at work. By making your work station exacerbate your condition he is contributing DELIBERATELY to your pain and discomfort. By bullying you and reducing you to tears he is giving you grounds for a case of harassment in the workplace. Get some advice from Citizens advice about where you go from here and annihilate the ****. Go for it girl! There is absolutely no reason on this earth why you should have to put up with that kind of behaviour in this day and age. It's nothing short of disgraceful.

Hugs to you and hope you find some improvement in your back. I do understand about backs, I've been a martyr to mine for years.

Suelin is right, your boss is bang out of order. Hard to stand up to these sort of people, but keeping a note of grievances is a good place to start. A local chap got taken to a tribunal for bullying by one of his employees and right in front of the panel stood up and said "I'm the Managing Director and I can do what I like". That remark cost him a lot of money!

The exercise for the lower back is:
lay on the floor, pull your knees right up into your chest, the part in contact with the floor will then be your lower back. Very slowly rock from side to side, keeping your knees together, so that the muscles either side of your back are massaged by the floor. I don't go far each way at first as it is quite painful but it relieves the pain instantly.

Is subtle revenge out of the question?

We have a phone system that shows a name for each extension on the receiving phone. My boss has no idea why everyone is peeing themselves with laughter when he calls them. I change the word periodically to keep everyone interested.

let your boss kick up a stink like everyone else has said... then hit him with ACAS code of practise and a employment law solicitors letter!!! you could get loads of money if he goes too far, then your money troubles would be easier....

Chin up xx

If your boss keeps on this way Geena, smile and agree with him and then ask him to put his request in writing and start to build a case. If he doesn't by the following day send him an e-mail confirming your conversation and copy his boss and every director in the company on it. Put a receipt tag on the e-mail. So that you know he has received it. Send a copy to your home pc and save it to file. Either way you win, if he gives you the requests in writing he is building his own jail and if you e-mail him he has to refute it. It won't be long before his boss starts to get fed up with him and marks his card. Do this with any bully in the workplace, people hate to have to put anything in writing. Good luck. In case you haven't guessed, I cannot stand, nay, will not stand a bully!!!
