Most of the ones i have found are for footie where the foot is at risk from eversion and inversion whereas of course when riding your are heels down.
I basically get a lot of ligament pain on the lateral side of my ankle. Ive also been told that i have super flexible ankles as i can get my heels lower than the normal person although to me it is normal. Anyway after many years of swimming and an old injury my ankle is really very painful when riding so i want to try support it. Any ideas
I used to suffer the same symptoms that you discribe. It was a long time until I realised that I was wrapping my legs round to such an extent that all my weight was on the outside of my feet instead of having them flat in the stirrup. I still have a tendancy to do this and whenever I do the pain comes back. Might be worth checking if you are doing the same.
Until I started treating the cause, the symptoms where alleviated by just a normal sports ankle support.
Thanks for that. Yes i did initially think it was something i was doing but i have had various people check and surprisingly its not me. Its just my one ankle and i have had a previous injury before to it so i imagine its down to that and all my swimming training (used to swim 11 times a week)
What kind of sports support did you have success with? Ive been looking and there is quite an array available!
I've been told to wear my splint on my wrist when I'm riding...but it's sooo bulky, so I've got some tape that boxers use to tape up their hands before they fight....worked wonders, my wrist hasn't given up in ages now!
Cant use the endurance stirrups as do showing but have ridden in them previously and did ot noticed a difference.
Also tried the flexi stirrups thinking the shock absorbing would be a beneficial thing but as my ankles are mega flexible to have flexible stirrups too just didnt work (wish the rest of me ws so flexible!)
Now if only tesco sold new ankle joints, they sell everything else!
Am going to go off shopping today and will hopefully find a support.
