Hi everyone, I am taking my 5yr old Pure Bred (Bramble)to the North Staffs spring show but i am very new to the arab showing world (and AL) and have loads of questions if anyone can help i would really appreciate it.
We are doing one in hand class and one ridden so here goes...
Does she have to have an Arab bridle or is a normal in-hand bridle ok?
What do i have to wear?
How do people make their Arabs 'hightail' in the ring? is this just down to the nature of the horse or can they be 'trained'?
What is the judge looking for in the ridden classes? We won a local ridden arab class at the weekend but it was at a non arab show and i wasn't sure that the judge really liked arabs!
Sorry to fire all these questions at once but i have struggled to find any info on 'tinternet so if there are any recommended websites all suggestions gratefully received.
Welcome to AL and glad that you are enjoying it! do a search on here for ridden/inhand showing and there will be lots of topics on both. To get more choice tick the box to show 'Archived Posts'
I am sure the archives will turn up great advice but some rapid answers to your queries.
Your mare should be in an in hand bridle for the in hand class and you need to be smart but unobtrusive (shirt and trousers or a dark suit etc). Your mare will probably have something that 'lights her up' for the in hand class - a sound that makes her bristle - you can train/cultivate this.
Ridden class is all about way of going, manners etc. Judge will ride in affilliated classes and horses are stripped so you'll need a willing groom too.
Most of all... enjoy it. Go home having learnt something and feeling proud of your horse... and keen to do it again!

Thanks for your answers and advice. I am treating this show as a learning mountain and am not expecting great things. Is it acceptable to ask the judge for feedback at the end of the class? I know that Bramble (my horse) will behave impeccably and that it will be me that lets her down but hey life is for living and learning.
