Hi everyone,
I bought a horse last may named Cal Karsab, an ex arab racer, from Paul Brown. I'm looking for some history on his racing days and some pics if anyone has any. I share him with my mum, its her birthday soon and i want ot get a pic of her baby blown up and framed as a present. I've lost all of Paul's contact details which is a bit of a nightmare! but i'm sure some of you must have some knowledge of him, i hear he was pretty good in his younger days!
Thanks,
Sarah

Hi Sarah, and welcome to AL.
Paul posts on here as Paul Brown Arabs. Why don't you put up a FAO or send him a Personal Message and I'm sure he'll give you all the info you need. If you have no luck let me know and I'll look through all my old archives - current racing person here!!

I also remember the horse and some of his runs, Paul should be able to give you his full history and there may be video & pictures to be had. I bought an ex racer and we managed to get all his runs on video. ARO & AHS may also have records of his runs, you should ask them too...do you know what years your after as I have all the AHS mags and many have race records...You might also find this on line with ARO. I've lft you the link for 2002, I think that was the year I rember the horse running....

Just to add, he was rated in the 70ies in 2002, and I do have a copy of the Arabian Racing Review 2002 for sale, which contains the racing results for that year.including CAL KERSAB's win at Brighton on 21 September 2002 and 2nd at Exeter on 6th July 2002.

Cal Karsab was previously owned by Mr G Serra and trained by Bill Smith at The Kelanne Stud in Hambledon, Hampshire. If you phone Georgina at ARO she will probably print you out his racing record. Also you could try Jim and Chris Bielby of The Racing Advertiser who have been ARO's photographers for a number of years or Roy Bastiman of Springfield Video who cover our races.
Both are linked from the ARO site

Southwell, August 6th 2004. Town & Country Farms Novice Riders Handicap Stakes - Race 71.
1st Cal Karsab ridden and trained by Mr P Brown.
Springfield Video were there for sure and would have thought Racing Advertiser as well.

He's a Bay with a large white star & large snip and I've got him on video racing and winning.....Don't forget to contact both ARO & AHS as back in the earlier days they both ran arab races. They should both be able to give you a listing of all his runs and places etc.. If you should find out who took the still pictures in 2002, please let me know, as I'd like to see any of my horse racing from that year, got all the video's from Springfield which are great...Sue |

Hi Sue, I think the main photographer in the early days of ARO was Mark Johnston on the racecourse, but many of the photo's in the 2002 review were taken by Dan Brunton.
