Here I am in my forties and I have to finally admit defeat and admit the skin on my face cannot survive on neglect any longer.
Can someone recommend a face cream that is
Not expensive Not greasy Not perfumed
Thanks

I am not too far off the big "40" but I have never really used anything other than a home brand cream from the local supermarket that is frangrance free, that is after a good wash with soap and cool water...
I am not convinced that any of the really expensive products actually do any different (well they always seem to bring me out in spots!)
I use a good cream foundation that is non drying too, and never heavy powder that can weigh the skin down.... xx |

Oh, don't go there Vera!!!
My skin has miraculously survived on nothing but soap & water, then lashings of Oil of Olay Beauty Fluid (ha ha - beauty my a**e, the neds will love me no matter what I look like)!!! I find that this product is non greasy, lasts forever and is relatively cheap (in comparison). It did disappear from the market for a few years, so I used a "hydrating" gel for a while, which was very nice. But IMO you can't beat a good dollop of Oil of Olay!!!
Obviously the product you use depends on your skin type, and in the beauty/pampering stakes I am very minimalistic!!!
Good luck in your search, but why not give yourself a treat and visit a large Department Store Beauty section - they are pretty good at sussing out your skin type and advising on what type of product to use - and you could make it a girly day out - good excuse for retail therapy!!!

Hi Vera
I really like the Neutrogena range - they do various ones and some have an SPF of 15 which is good for general day to day use and they are non-comedogenic (non pore blocking), they aren't expensive and most supermarkets do them. I think their basic one is called 'Neutrogena Moisture'.
I once read an article on face creams and a dermatologist said you can't beat E45 lotion for using as a basic facial moisturiser though! |

Funnily enough I am having a girly day out with Lanabanana next week, we're getting our hair done and doing the ladies what lunch thing so I might just do that.
I use Oil of Olay body wash in the shower, my face gets scrubbed with those course nylon exfoliating gloves about twice a week and then plastered with good old baby lotion.
I rarely put makeup on. |

Hi Vera
I can recommend Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion, have been using it for donkeys years, which is why I now look like a 342 year old donkey which isn't bad considering I'm 480. |

Doesn't the word Clinique = expensive? Sounds expensive!
Olay, Neutrogena and E45 sound more like my price range .
Isn't it funny how we would not bat an eyelid at spending loads on a cream for the horses but not ourselves!

Paul...... Balaclava That is so very, very wrong, they should be banned and shipped off to the Arctic circle where they might be appreciated by an unsuspecting polar bear. There are so many of us out there who have been scarred by having to wear a balaclava in our youth (we were young and didn't know any better cos evil parents told us it was the "in" thing). I'd much rather bare my wrinkles any day than sport a balaclava again (OK, maybe if I'd had enough to drink I'd do it but certainly not sober !!).
Vera, Clinique = you're worth it !! Sod the expense. |

Udder cream you use on cows boobies works a treat so I am told.
Or my AUnt swears by just ordinary suncream lotion, she has used it for years.
I buy these creams and use them for a couple of weeks then get bored and chuck them out.
