Is it necessary to butter the bread when having a butty - eg, bacon, chips, fishfingers etc.
I butter the bread when having a chip butty but don't when having bacon, frankfurters or fishfingers but do have lashing of Heinz Tomato Ketchup!
What do you do?
Another thought why is buttered bread and Jam called a Jam Butty but buttered bread and cheese is called a cheese sandwich?
Something to ponder me thinks.....

I always always always butter my bread
even when dipping it in soup - very unhealthy I know ... ketchup, etc is just an added bonus xx |

No butter in butties, I don't like chip butties but like bread and butter and chips separately, how weird is that, Mandy. |

Vera - you're killing me here! It's Friday, it's been a rough week and I really am trying to be good - but the talk of butties Mmmmmm Feel like Homer LOL I'm a bit of a butter monster (you'd never guess with my svelte figure would you ) Although no to butter with Jam, or marmite for that matter - but lots dripping out for Chips, fish fingers, Bacon, Sausages etc
Off to get my zero fat zero taste yoghurt from the fridge now

Butter on any sort of sandwich, butty etc and preferably none of the pretendy whipped up yellow stuff that's out there. Proper butter, nothing else will do I'm afraid. If you're going to lay down some fat, it has to be from a first class source |

Mmmm another one for butter on everything and anything! Ideally salted butter... Sainsbury's do a Taste the Difference butter with sea salt crystals and its just yummy on crusty French bread |

Vera - I think you are having a love affair with food this week - or are you just trying to make us all naughty and break our New Year resolutions?!! lol
I have just sat down again this morning, and again, need to attack the cupboards... yum - 2 chocolate croissants down - now all I can think about is a bacon butty!!!
Anyway to answer your question - no butter for me with bacon, although yes with everything else... and as for chips, I do like cheese or salad cream in the butty too!! (naughty)
(oh and I call bread with butter and jam "jam n bread" is that a Yorkshire thing???) xx
.... also does anyone else like a cheese sandwich, buttered or not, dunked in soup?? |
