I have just come across a stud advert for Rushti that I thought was interesting. Also read an article that says that Rushti was one of around 5 arab stallions who regularly went hunting.
The stud advert says:
Rushti AHSB vol VII and GSB Bay 15 hands 1 1/2 in. Sire Rosh Dam: Rufeiya Strain Kehailan Rodan
A beautiful horse with exceptionally brilliant action. A genuine hunter himself: his get includes the pure bred stallions Rushmet, Alyosha and Ras Tafari, many other prize winners in hand and under saddle and good, tough hunters from all types of mares.
Rushti stood at Stocking Farm alongside Gerwazy.

Rushti sire of Alyosha. Alyosha was the first pure bred I had seen, and he left a lasting impression. He was being paraded round an auction yard in a bid to attract breeders to come to him, stood so easily while owner chatted to potential customers. Stud fee then was about 15 guineas, or to me as a clerk, a months wages. I had a half TB flaxen chestnut mare I would have loved to send, but in those days transport was a real problem.
He was chestnut with very light almost white mane and tail and a noted sire of palominos, he ended up in Ireland. |

What a lovely story Pat. I have seen loads of old stud adverts for Alyosha but never seen a photo. Have come across a couple of lovely ones of Kossak (Rushti x Karramba) who is a full brother to my old girls grand dam Krysia. They do seem to be a lovely line. Best wishes debs |

There is actually a pic of Rushti on allbreedpedigree - I uploaded it after I finally found a pic of him - I think it may be from an old AHS News? I am not sure though, because as I recall, I bought the copy of the pic from another Aliner via ebay. I never found one of Rufeyia, though I did find Rosh (also on allbreed now).
Pat do you have a pic of Alyosha? He sounds lovely!

Rushti was the grandsire of my first horse, and I do wonder if that is partly where she got her jumping ability from (it certainly wasn't with any help from me!). |
