Well after a week of worrying its has finally flooded to the extent of last summer....
We started last week off with a very large lake at the bottom of the land - it is now a torrential running river!
The Garden is now nearly over my wellies and the horses have around an hour to eat as much as they can before they are turfed out into the rain to higher ground!
I have spent all morning sandbagging and I can now only wait - the car is up the lane so I can make a quick escape if needed!
I have just phoned my husband who works in Mirfield on a little island next to the Calder - the police have been down and they are on alert and advised them to leave now - typical husband - he is saying put!!! silly man! Mirfield is closed off so goodness knows how he will get home....
Sorry to go on... but just sitting on my own with the 2 cats... boo hoo

Oh poor you what a nightmare I hope this blasted rain stops soon. We are lucky where we are and don't suffer from flooding but really feel for those of you who do. |

Poor Delly, and all those in similar circumstances.
I work in Bradley, near Mirfield - I had every intention of going to Barnsley and Rotherham today, but gave up and turned round after going over Colne Bridge. The river upstream of Colne Bridge (which is upstream of Mirfield has 2 SEVERE flood warnings on it, and last I heard, they were about to evacuate the Syngenta plant.
This is the first time in at least 20 years that I have refused to allow the horses to go out in the field due to the ground conditions. They don't care..... |

Thanks to you all... I am in a little valley on the Morley/Batley border in West Yorkshire.
Unfortunately, we have all the surfice water from Morley coming down to us, and although the drains are the largest available, they are over full to capacity!
Dont worry about the cats - they are indoor ones anyway!
I'll give you an update as we go on!

Blooming water!
The road into one end of my village is closed. I know the other end is actually normally worse! Plus there was a 'puddle' that way that almost stopped me this morning!
And I've just had a panicky phone call from my little sister, whose train had been cancelled and there was a queue '50 miles long and 4 people wide' to get to information, so she didn't know about replacement buses! Then another one to say she'd found one just outside the station and is hopefully on her way home from Leeds. Then she has to tackle the same floods as I do, in the opposite direction! |

Hi all,
Just to let you know we all survived the night - the neds were somewhat put out as had to be left out in the frost, but they have now just been happily playing "tig" when I was in the field with them!
We only lost the bedding in the stables and some food in the barn - that is still in water but eveything else seems to be clearing away - just hope no more rain comes for a while.
I do feel lucky. Our house escaped with a little flooding over the kitchen floor, whilst my neighbours, who have only just got their house back in order from the summer floods, have lost alot again - their assessor is there now to see what damage has been done, but they may be facing months away again.
So... better get to it - clearing out the stables etc - hope all is well everywhere else xx
