I posted recently about my grand-daughter's 17 year old horse Sundar. We were told that he was only gelded about 3 years ago and was bred by a Mr. Morris. After some detective work, we have been in contact with his "real" breeder. She lives very close to us in Devon and still retains Sundar's full sister as a brood mare. He was in fact, cut when he was a two year old and used for endurance until he was fourteen. Strange why people feel the need to tell silly lies. We, however, are the winners because we have a lovely gentle boy who my slightly nervous grand-daughter adores. She trusts him and he looks after her, and to cap it all, thanks to Barabia, we now know that he is 96.29% Crabbett.

Wow - is your grand daughter going to show him in any Crabbet classes as he is well bred?
All the best with him. It is so nice when you get to the "real" story on these horses. Best wishes Debs |

I don't think she will be showing him any time soon as he has a huge belly and looks to be in foal!! He hadn't been ridden for two years before we got him, which makes me think that it may be just a tone up that he needs. "Relaxed muscle" He does collect himself very well when ridden but at 17 years old, the process of getting him fit will be fairly gentle. He is the first arabian we have owned and if I have my way, he won't be the last. We have five horse/ponies of various shapes, sizes and colours but the one he has made friends with is a 3 year old coloured rescue pony who had a head collar embedded in his nose. I think you can tell that we are very pleased with him. |
