Hi,
Looks like fun! Perhaps we should look into having the odd Arab jumping race? Most of mine love jumping and I am sure they would love it. Carol |

I think its a great idea but I don't think the race courses would let us due to extra risks, but you could start with hurdles.
Aliesha won over fences (hunter trials) - she loved it!
I am not sure the Sheiks would let there's run over timber though!

mine would be in heaven!, she cleared the road crossing at Hereford by miles and tries to treat every x country fence like Beechers Brook. I believe there was once an attempt to bring in some jump or hurdle racing at the time when Shomran was around - I was well up for it too - but the risk assessment was DIRE!!! |

Hi I agree with Carol, it cant be any different to point- points, my boys Operatic and Eternal Light would love it as they are fab jumpers2 miles and eight hurdles would be pretty exciting, although have to admit when i had point-pointer i could never watch him run Ang |

remember asking martin harris many years ago if we could have a 2m hurdle race or two tacked onto a TB card but nothing ever came of it - my ex racing horse, Benedict, now full time eventing (won a prevovice last weekend) who we schooled over hurdles when in training would have loved it - all mine go jumping while in pre season training to liven them up and keep them balanced. no reason why we couldnt tack onto the end or beginning of the jump season - dont think summer jumping would attract many takers. What about a hurdle race for the TB's eacing under ARO rules? |

2 miles and 8 hurdles sounds good to me. wondering if the arabs in Sweden race over normal sized hurdles or slightly smaller ones (arabs being smaller than tbs) would be interesting to find out. Im already racking my brains to come up with some way of finding some hurdles to school over - just in case!!!!! |

Perhaps Carol could mention it at the next race planning meeting in December, as i will be away then,it would be interesting to know what interest there was overall. Although it would be great, i think we have to get what we have firmly back on track first.Although it could create some new interest. The fence in the picture looks more like a mini point-point fence then a hurdle in the sense of our hurdles. Moosie you can make your own mini hurdles by cutting a wooden pallet in half and then tightly stuffing the gap in the middle with anything green then trim to desired height,I made my schooling fences like that its cheap and cheerful but it does the job Ang |

a few races without the shiek's horses sound's fun - but i think it might be too expensive to organise at the moment and without their sayso its probably a nogo area. would aro be allowed by the jockey club to organise/hold amateur hurdle races for TB's? |

good tip ang but I reckon, realistically that youre right - we need to get everything else on a definite upward curve first. Still - who knows! while on the subject of improvisation does anyone have any tips on making a home made starting stall - complete with gate - although it might be cheaper to make a trip to the nearest helpful trainer who has one, except that I reckon that for me means about 200 miles. |
