I have owned and bred a few high % Crabbet/OE horses (and out cross) from 1986 until 2005.. when I had to sell my yard and my breeding stock!
BUT.. now I'm on to it again, thanks to my dearest friend who will take care of my mare Majidah (pic's in my sig) 97,45%+ Crabbet. She will hopefully have a foal by Rusleem due 2009, and some other year she will be covered by one of my former breedings.. a 100% Old English/CMK, 93,51% Crabbet stallion.
Here's a headshot of him.
Here is his sire who died at the age of 31,5+ (had a 9 day old filly by his side).
R.I.P Ghazal (Kariba x Yateemah).. but I still miss you!

WOW! Stunning horses barbera. Donna, did you but Izzy recently? I'm sure i recognise the last photo on your signature as one from an advert of a mare that i was going to go and see. She sold before i got to her.If she is, she sounded lovely Ros |

Both gorgeous! Who is the stally in the first pic? He reminds me a bit of my much-missed old Crabbet boy...
I love your mare, by the way, she is stunning! And it's so good to hear that you are back breeding again - can't wait to see your Rusleem baby! I'm interested that you chose Rusleem, as I believe he is only 73% Crabbet - do you think people can maybe get a bit too hung up on these percentages? That maybe it is the wonderful Crabbet/Old English qualities we should be looking and breeding for (and which Rusleem has in abundance), rather than the percentage of Crabbet blood? |

Thanks to you all for the kind words!
Kate, the stallion is called Gimmick. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/gimmick3 I noticed that Leda (dam to your boy) is pure-in-strain Dajania, Gimmick's strain is also Dajania. Maybe that would make them 'look a like'? Of course they also share many others in the pedigree, I just can't point them out.
Re breeding to Rusleem.. it was my friends choice, because she will have the foal (if it will be one). I like him too, but I would have bred her to a 100.. or very high % Crabbet stallion, and will do that later on. IF Majidah was 100% Crabbet (she's 97,45%+), then I would have bred her to a 'likewise' stallion.. with quality of course, that's very important!

Apologies for hijacking this thread but in case you haven't noticed, a parade of Crabbet horses is being planned - see the 'sticky'.
Everyone welcome to participate.

all beautiful horses, am fortunate to have a crabett gelding % dependant on allowing Dargee or not ? but minimum of 98 ish % I think ? Have just added him to allbreeds thingy (just taurean) also have anglo arab filly 50/50 by 88% crabett stallion (same sire as my gelding)(think you've met the stallion Judith doing his first year endurance in 2006) Debbie

Hi
My old retired boy is 99.98% Crabbet (Silver Domino x Silver Indrette) and will be 25 on Valentine's Day next year. He did lowish level endurance for 16 years (up to 30 miles) and was never vetted out until he did a suspensory ligament at Cirencester in 2004 after which he was retired to the paddock with his pipe and slippers !! My horse of a lifetime. |

Arabmare your horses are lovely - and such great photos!
Are you sure that pedigree for DAH Rish is correct? Her parents seem to be full brother and sister! I know this is sometimes done, but just wondered, as it is unusual...
Nikki - I might do that; don't want to offend anyone, though. |

Hi Kate, thanks!
Yeah ped is correct!! The breeders like to do that sometimes. She seems ok! I just love her as she is, don't really mind her breeding! |
