Hi Herts, Clarendon stud closed down the year you bought your mare. Paul Simmons will be able to tell you more about Kairo when he returns from France, he owns a couple of her sisters I believe!
CS Kairo raced twice as a 3 yr old but was unplaced, nice colt full brother to multiple winner CS Khamsin. The dam Samara Bint Samurai has produced several decent winners inc. Jumah, CS Shamal and Sabbarrah.
Jumah was entered in the Ascot Sales but WAS NOT sold prior to the sale, she was withdrawn and is no longer for sale and is in fact still sitting in my field with her two daughters getting rather fat. Her son CS Jumali (Bengali D'Albret) was unbeaten in 2 UK starts and has won 3 in Kuwait so far. Jumah is going back to Bengali D'Albret next year!!!
CS Shamal is also here at my stud, she won twice and has had a huge colt by Concord this year.
Are you planning on racing Kairo Herts? You have some really nice race lines there especially with the lovely Khute, got a cracker of a broodmare there!
Kairo has just had to have surgery as he has a bogsavin and also had some floating bones in his hock. he is now having stable rest for 1/2 months and then is going back into light work. Earlier in the year I starting training him for show jumping and we did a few local shows really well.
He is a bit of a pain though as he is reallt bad at loading - shakes and freezes when approaching the ramp then when loaded, will only jump off the trailer - we were told after we bought him at ascot that when he was younger he had a big accident on a ramp and hence we think thats why he is the way he is. I have written to Kelly Marks/Monty Roberts asking if they want to use him for one of their demos as the problem doesnt seem to be getting better with any training.
I didnt think about racing him as he seems very lazy when worked (unless out on a hack and jumping) so thought i would try show jumping first.
We are thinking about putting Khute to Bengali next year as our stallion Rubinski (by Bengali) is so nice natured.
